Guys, this tank has high alpha and as usual with tanks of high alpha it does not get a good dpm. It`s a trade off: you can`t have good alpha, good overall gun and high dpm in one tank, that would be a teeny tiny bit too much.

Still, personally I`d say it`s simply a well balanced tank, for a specific gameplay that relies on trading shots rather than outgunning and outspamming your enemies.

It is balanced, but also underwhelming, it pays too much for that big gun in my opinion, rear turret and bad gun depression, unreliable armor, not great gun handling and a poor DPM.
I don't have it the STG, but i have the M4 Rev, which is slow, huge and unarmored, but i couldn't care less about those shortcomings because the gun is simply a joy to use even with the 200mm pen it has.
I think STG can use the same treatment that was given to the M4 Rev, buff it to give it something special, while still remaining balanced.

Obj. 416 is a better looking tank and it has monstrous dpm for

it's tier, plus 330 pen HEAT rounds!

Grind that hidden gem instead of paying for this polished turd!

Yes it's true the Obj 416 has far superior DPM and I won't say that isn't a meaningful gain because more is always better in terms of positive attributes and having a 2 key ammo that actually works against most everything is pure joy(if you can afford it!!). The 416 also has better view range, enough that when both these tanks are crewed with BIA, Situ and Recon, the 416 can pass full view range even without a vent while the STG has only around 436 view range which sucks for a tier8 unless you fit a vent but the STG really can't afford to drop the rammer(since its reload sucks), obviously not drop the optics since you are trying to achieve more view range lol so that only leaves the Vstab to be drop for that extra view range which I feel it can't really afford to do since it has worse soft stats than the 416 and way worse than the M4 Rev alternative plus the Rev has a rail gun to compensate any such lead issues the STG hasn't but I digress.

So you have more equipment choice flex with the 416 since you can technically drop rammer for a vent if a player felt they already have insane DPM as standard and just want to boost view range, camo, accuracy, dispersion, turret+hull traverse by taking a vent instead plus a vent will also boost reload speed/dpm anyway just not as good as a rammer obviously but still worth a mention. Because the STG has such terrible 1,782 stock DPM, it really MUST take a rammer and arguably a vent too, just to get that thing anything close to some sort of workable reload which is still wont and as mentioned, if you take a vent, you must either drop the Vstab which makes landing those precious shots(precious because you have such a slow reload) harder without that Vstab or else you take the Vstab and drop the optics which means your already poor view range is now much worse which really doesn't make sense doing.

Thing is though, regardless of the above, the STG is a much better tank than the 416... What???!!!! Ya when all is said and done the STG has -6 gun dep vs the 416 -3 which is such a lovely attribute and makes most all the rises and depressions on our maps no problem for the STG while the 416 is VERY ground sensitive to the point you just get "outplayed" or lose carry battle because your stupid tank can't get its gun on the targets in positions that's normally never even a factor with any other tank... chasing and taking a shot on the move the -3 means if you drive over a pebble or cigarette butt your gun is thrown skyward and you miss. Also, what makes the STG much better to play is it has a full 360 degree traverse turret while the 416 is limited. This means that, while the STG is at a massive disadvantage with DPM, at least when combined with the -6 gun dep it reverse up ridges showing only a small target to the enemy along with being in a position to accelerate forwards "backwards" to cover while the 416 has to shove its long hull out over crest to get it's gun on a target assuming it even can with that sad -3 gun dep so might accidentally break bush cover by driving too far but in any case when you do shoot, all of your tank is there to get shot at, albeit a small flat type of tank.

Also when it comes to close quarters stuff, sure, neither of them are considered brawlers but battles don't conform to what tanks should do and if you are the only tank left of just get bumrushed by a light tank, the STG can at least whip that turret all the way around and deliver a nice chunky 400 alpha, high module chance shell at that pesky light tank whereas the 416 with it's limit traverse turret, can't really do much about it and that's totally a thing. I wanted to make the 416 a keeper but while it's not terrible, it's very VERY situational and way too many holes in it's game to be played regularly imo. At least the STG is a premium and what that means is, you can solve a lot of the above mentioned view range and equipment gripes by taking food since it will still not lose credits taking food unlike the 416. The STG standard AP round also has pretty high pen for a tier8 med which I found enough to not need the 2 key compared to the 416 which means you can easily offset the food requirement I feel the STG most definitely needs. The STG only has 11 pen more than the 416 standard ammo, 212 vs 201 but what that means is the STG, even with distance pen loss, is still knocking on the other tank with more than 200 whereas the 416 and even the Rev, will have dropped pen to under 200 and it seems a lot of lower plates and weak spots in this game are set to offer about 200 effective so basically the STG will pen them fine with normal pen rolls whereas the 416 and Rev will just fall that little bit short most the time... since it's most the time, it means the 416 and Rev, when facing typical heavy and higher tier lower plates, will have to dab that 2 key... the STG, even with food, is just cheaper to play too as well as being better than the 416 for reasons stated. Not outright better for reasons stated, but better where it counts most. That being true, the STG most definitely needs a buff to make it's DPM at least 2k standard and another 10 to view range. The rest is fine, nothing special, a bit on the lower end of the scale, but fine.
