I know the answer to this already and I'm sure this question has been asked many many times before, but why cant premium a/c time only be active whilst you're actually playing the game? I got one day as a reward recently but due to work/other life I was only able to play a couple of hours whilst it was active.

It has been requested multiple times prem time only counts when you are actually playing the game.

Don't see this happening anytime soon though.

it has been calculated by business men that if you make premium time run even when you are not playing it will make you more likely to play the game as you dont want to lose your money or you feel like you must make the most out of your money.

if the premium time would run only when you are in-game you would feel less need to play the game. as you could take a break for 3 months and the premium time would still be there and you would lose nothing and that would not make money for WG.

I guess this answers the question.

More likely it's been calculated by people paid by the business men :)

I do understand when its activated it runs for the time period, but you should have the ability to activate it yourself.
Would be very useful whenever you win premium time.

If you can't afford a premant premium account (tip: buy in christmas sale with 15-30% off) then the next best thing is personal reserves. it's kinda the same as a prem account.

doubt prem for xxx games will appear any soon if ever so if you are an active player it is just most worth buying prem around xmas or when the special appears at other date, 360 day prem with 30% discount(was that so far i remember), would account to 56eur, sure it is the price of a new game but cost efficient way better than buying it every month or so

I suggested on another thread that WoT could also sell premium on a per battle basis. They already do some things per battle, so they have the functionality. I'd go for that, depending on price.

OP, like you i have a family / real life that takes priority over WOT so don't get full usage out of my premium account, however what I do is buy the special that give you 30 days premium and some gold for just under 12 quid.

I don't know your financial position but you can  get a low level tank and premium for  £8.51.

Hope the advice helps.
