I don't remember who captain Needa is, but surely Darth Vader should never forgive a failure! Never! :B

He didn't forgive him. He ordered him put in front of a Storm Trooper firing squad.

WG had RNG set on -25% for that battle and Captain Needa was released once the cost of blaster charges got to be too excessive.

Even the Empire has a budget they need to respect afterall.

That scene, and the one with Darth Vader doing a facepalm,  were cut from the movie, but if you had read the book you'd know
