Just found out that US client now won't update through the install launcher, it forces you to download Game Center if you wish to carry on playing.

How much longer have I got before I stop playing EU side?

I don't understand why we are being forced into downloading a separate program to do whats already done ABSOLUTELY FINE.

I try to keep installs on my PC to a minimum, I have ZERO intentions on ever playing warships or planes so why the hell would I want this game center to launch a game I can already do just fine currently.

Although with the micro stuttering since last update I might not be playing long.

Agreed.

I really don't like the GC - layout is not intuitive, etc etc.

Problem is, we either have to like it or lump it - we simply don't have a choice.

Some people say their game is crashing upon login lately...if they're all using Game Center, I think that might be the cause.

I've hated that thing since the start.

You only need it to use auto-login and update the game. You don't need it to run the game or even launch it. When you get forced to use it, just disable the setting to launch when windows start. And pin the WOT shortcut to the taskbar and use that. Then you don't even have to see it half the time.

I already do have it pinned to start but there is no reason besides making people install your crappy software to force people to use it instead of the standard launcher.

To be fair, It might use resources differently etc. But compared to the old one, it's just a separate one vs a built in one. It still works the same way, and gets in your face as much if you want to launch the game. The new one at least gives you an option to avoid it.

There is really no reason to dislike WGC any more than the old crappy launcher.  And you can't expect WG to keep maintaining the old one just because you don't like change.

This, exactly this.

So can people please get over their prejudice already and just accept the WGC?

It cause me no problems. It handles any updates/patches without me having to wait for them to load  before I can play. Seems no different to having Steam on the PC.

I am not a fan of that either, cant go into offline mode unless online so if you net goes down you are still screwed for single player games.

WGC is mainly a Marketing tool.

(The original launcher already has a important functionality: start the game, update the game.)

On top of that WGC also a big resource hog. Which is the real problem.

Excuse me, but if WGC is hogging your resources, then you desperate need to look into replacing that aging Pentium II of your's.

Because for me, it uses up less than half a percent of my CPU usage, and only some 100-150MiB of RAM.

So if that is too much for your system to handle, then I think the problem lies with your PC.

How much resources is it hogging?  Come on, facts and figures?

I just checked and several Windows processes are using more memory, as for CPU it isn't using enough for the Windows resource manager to measure it.

It definitely uses more resources than the original launcher. And the original launcher does everything fine, what it supposed to do.

So it's not a slightly worse version of a thing that is supposed to do the same thing as the thing I already have?

If you consider a more configurable system using a more up to date webkit to be worse then yes.  I would probably disagree.

But what are the practical advantage?

I have it already installed to play the SB and will link WoT tomorrow, but still I can't see wich advantage does that bring. I have just 1 account and play only WoT and the WGC looks like an overcomplicated way to start a game.

I would gladly remove the current launcher too in favour of a simple executable like many games have tbh...

You cannot talk them on the basis of logic. They are either blind fans or shills for sure

"Wah, it uses more resources."

I'm sorry, but what?
