Hi guys, I have a question: Did any of you owners of obj279e notice many many ammorack explosions lately? I had 4 games in a row with ammo rack explosion, last one was from e50... This is a problem which kicked in lately , I didnt notice that until recently. Well maybe I was unlucky but so many ammorack explosions reminds me on obj907 before buff. Well maybe is this WG  way to balance the tank.

Its strong tank dont get me wrong, but being one shoted by tier 9 meds is getting my nerves wrecked. Its not fun, you are ppushing, taking dmg dealing dmg, you are almost wining then one shot and KABUMMMMM, and you are in garage. Game after game. 20 games 8 amorack explosions. Looks like im gonna demount improved vents and mount WET AMMO RACK :) It is gonna be my first tank with wet ammo rack.

The OP has a point though.

The tank being OP or not shouldn't have a bearing on this issue. How can you enjoy playing a tank that has the ammo rack explode almost every battle? I remember when the 907 was like that so I didn't play it for a good year or so because of the frustration.

I have noticed it with the 279... I don't have one but I've blasted the turret off one twice. Once was from full HP in ranked :bajan:

My point was to show you why you get hit that much on ammorack, not discussing about how strong the tank is. You can see a lot of your sides and half of your frontal plate is ammorack.

Also the ammorack is also quite poor in terms of HP, with just 210HP. For comparison, IS-4 has 240 and Maus/E100 got 280HP. I suggest you to train safe stowage on the loader, as this will add 105HP to its healt pool.

I also have obj279, and I know very well what you mean.

The ammunition hold is placed behind the frontal armor and on the sides of the vehicle it is easily destroyed.

I on my 279e I have the ability of the servant that increases the strength of the ammunition hold and I added the directive that further increases the strength of the ammunition hold.

Despite these precautions, the ammunition hold is easily destroyed on this vehicle also with a pair of HE ammunition

Anyway, I want to make it a general argument , beyond the possible controversy on obj279e, in general heavy vehicles have quite long reloading times and I think it is a mistake that vehicles that tend to have such long recharges are often subject constantly to damage to the hold ammunition often becoming useless in certain situations.

its a balancing factor so deal with it, when a tank has so many strengths it needs an achilles heel, the ammo rack is that weakness. Sure WG can buff the module HP and youll survive such hits but thatll also mean you have more battles in which you survive longer, and majority of the time, able to carry for longer which in turn can improve the chances of winning those battles youd have otherwise possibly lost due to being taken out of the battle by ammo rack explosion.

wet ammo rack equipment and safe stowage are in the game for these reasons. theres no sense in having these in the game if every single tank is perfectly fine to play with the usual go to setup - vents, rammer, vert. stabs, optics, gun laying drive etc. depending on the tanks strengths/weaknesses. some tanks NEED to take alternate equipment/skills in order to improve survivability due to these weaknesses. its the same with so many other games where players need to choose a particular setup that suits their playstyle/game meta. either take the wet ammo rack and suffer a slightly lower DPM and various other stats that were improved by the vents or maintain those stats at the risk of more frequent ammo rack explosions, there needs to be a trade-off. i used cyclone filters in place of vents on the T-44-100 simply due to the engine being so incredibly weak and engine fires being so common, but it was still a strong tank to play in pubs and frontlines without the vents, and the rammer as i used optics to spot better, after that my survivability improved without much of a noticable difference in the lower DPM.

youve got youre ridiculously strong tank, overcome the ammo rack issues by taking a different setup and play on

Oh thx, I forgot about the directives shell organizer, it does improve ammorack for aditional 35 % and I got over 100 of them, thx man..
