Hey all,

I have been playing on and off for some years now, not particularly good at the game but have good fun with it.

However recently I have become next to useless and I just cannot get out of the rut - what do others do when they go through patches where you can't seem to get any decent performances together? I can't quite figure it out as in the same tanks that I was solidly doing well in I am now lucky to break even on damage!

Step back a few tiers - III to V are tremendous fun.

All depends on whether, or not, you care about stats more than fun - it's been my experience that the two rarely walk hand in hand.

Oh yeah not worried about the actual stats! I think that's a good idea to play some t-34 or something :)

My main worry is I am stinking up my teams right now with some of my crap performances.

Wouldn't worry about that sir - I do it every single game.

In fact, I'm probably the least qualified person on this forum to be giving advice.

It's mostly a trial and error thing, you play each battle, you come up with stuff, and just see how do they work. Learn the maps, and the better positions to be, get a good idea of how each tank works and try to find suitable positions for it, grasp the basics of spotting, armor angling, sidescrapping, weakspots and stuff, and finally always try to not look at the map, but read it, estimate how the flanks are gonna go, and make decisions according to what you see on the map.

General tips and tricks are a good thing to ask for, but in most cases, battles won't go always as expected and you must make decisions on the fly, and that's the hard part, and why the game has such steep learning curve. Everyone can understand the angling, sidescrapping, camping bush and aim for weakspots thing, but, at least, in high tiers it's decisions that win the game.

I think your right on the decision making or at least the lack of it. I was on a great run recently really upped my game but I have never been this crap lol I do try out different tactics now and then. Perhaps as I play worse I try harder to overcome it but end up playing worse because of that!

Start thinking about your mistakes. It's a good thing to know that you're bad (most of the time, anyway) - there are plenty of players who don't realize that (or don't consider it a problem, which I guess is a matter of personal opinion).

Two potential issues are doing too little, too late - and overextending.

Ideally, you'd try to focus on some tank you like, preferably on that is considered a decent performer, and stick with it. Looking at the minimap and supporting the team is a good start.

Either this:

or, but idk what youtubers/streamers do that here, but on .ru cluster there is a bunch of channels from 4k+ wn8 players on which you can just search for a particular tank and watch them play a couple of games or even a solid stream in that tank.

Watch for positions they choose and their decision making, this may be very helpful.

Find the tanks and playstyle you like, your taste, game meta and maps are changing with time. My taste and preferations changed a lot since I started to play, and I keep a lot of tanks in my garage nowadays to always have a vehicle which fits my mood. But I agree on that sometimes you need to accept that you have a bad day, in that case it is better to stop playing until the next day. Also, there are always some a-holes who write you "nice" things in chat, even after you exit to the garage - just report and blacklist them, don't even bother to answer those. This is just a game, don't take it seriously, play for fun.

If you are going through a rough patch, stick to easy mode tanks - you should find it easier to get some consistency going.

Plenty on tier 4 thats easy mode and things like T-34, T-34-85(M), KV-1, T-29 etc

Good luck!

Most important thing to do is activate brain.exe before doing something. Look at the minimap and think about who's going to shoot you if you make a push to a location, to what positions you open your flank. Don't just go in. Try to be just aggressive enough so you're constantly firing, but not so aggressive that you get shot from multiple angles and find yourself without support. Play tanks you like, know well and have a good crew in, then that's one thing less to worry about.

To improve, I'll focus on one thing, e.g. tracking shots, and focus on that.

Focusing on too much at once is counter-productive.

Look at your map. Be aware what your team is doing. Be aware what the enemy team is doing.

Also, look at your map.

Don't be at the very front driving blindly onto concealed enemies and don't be at the very back scratching your backside while your teammates are engaging enemy targets you clearly could help. The end. And just like that you are twice as good. No need to thank me.

Cheers guys, I must say having paid little attention to frontlines I gave it a go last night and had a blast in the Pantera with some very good results. Perhaps mixing it up was what was needed, also I have noticed I have been doing things I never used to do like automatically going to places on maps that may be good positions but.....not when you look at your minimap and your the only one who's gone there (by that time your on your own against 5 other tanks lol). I have also noticed I don't stick with a tank anymore once I have researched the next tank. I used to stick with the tank a bit if I enjoyed it and wait to go on the next one but I noticed recently I've been chopping and changing all the time.
