The Most American of Chinese Tanks: 59-Patton

Another 'old' premium tank that with just a little tweaking could be raised to the giddying heights of 'mediocrity' but as usual, is left to rot on the shelf of sub-par and is rarely played by the player base.
A damning indictment and clear warning to anyone who is thinking of buying one, just how many do you encounter and have you considered why that is?

Who actively pays to play with a huge tumour ontop of the tank that prevents it being used for its intended hull down purpose?
I know that Skill4Ltu guy doesn't mind it but he's not most players and could probably beat down people even with the most UP tanks.

...except that way back when the T29 was introduced and the game only had 3 nations to choose from, those "ears" WERE part of the hitbox! I did a quick search on google with the word "T29 ears hitbox", and found several links (some as far back as 2012 on this very forum) where those were discussed. I'm also not sure how designating a part of tank model as none-damage module is in any way an overwhelming challenge for developers that would require "omnipotence" to fix. THey've demonstrably done it before, why couldn't they do it again?

If a tank enters the game with such a prominent weak spot that cannot realistically be hidden then there should be a compensating factor.
Cupolas are the worst of all weak spots apart from a very few openings in buildings where you can spot and fire but cover the cupola at the same time its always vulnerable.
Options would seem to be much better view range so you can stay well back not something you really want to do in a medium tank.
So thats a good option for a TD
Not putting a crew member in that spot so all you lose is health.
Strengthening parts of the cupola so while it is large only a small part of it has low armour.
Removing it as a hit box altogether.
Try to avoid adding these tanks as premiums, they are fine as standard tanks because you can grind past them.
All we can do as a premium is never buy them and that's not good for us or WG.

This tank is quite weak. It was dowright pathetic when it had no gun depression.
However,I still see no reason to buy any chinese premium MTs, aside maybe somehow obtaining Type 59, because you can train light tank crews and retrain them to everything else. Buy the M5A1 Stuart, Type 64 and Type 62 (whenever available) and you're set for crew training. No need to endure those high-tier pain inducing games with minimal self-made contribution.
The only issue, is that Type 64 has a radioman... for some reason.
