Had an afk T30 on our side that didn't move at all for the duration of the game.

At the end of the game he self-destructed & we got the message "Ally *** was lost in battle".

Witnessed the whole thing from the comfort of my redlining CGC.

Never seen this before.

Was wondering if:

a) Anyone else has?

b) Is this a stealth adjustment made by WG to punish afk base campers?

It's been there for awhile. If someone has quit out of the battle before the end, their tank will automatically self-destruct on the end of the game (assuming they haven't already been destroyed) and AFAIK, receive very little experience (basically won't add any more to the amount they gained before quitting. So if they quit out immediately at the start, they'll get nothing, whereas if they quit out towards the end for whatever reason, they'll still get the amount earned from their actions earlier. Atleast, that is how I understand it to work).

I must admit that's news to me.

Good idea though.

If they repeatedly leave battle before the end, they will eventually receive zero XP regardless of damage caused.

So if that player does top damage then gets annoyed at the team and quits. They will receive nothing for that battle.

Made a thread about the exact same thing a few weeks ago, iirc.

It sort of happened to me last night in FL.

We were winning and needed to kill 1 more objective to win, so I thought "arrgh! I need to get some more damage quick, before someone ends the battle". In my haste I drove over an edge thinking there was a flight of steps down. There wasn't. My tank fell, landed on its roof. Again, haste kicked in and remembered there was a key combination to leave that tank and jump in another, but Igot it wrong. I exited the battle, in fact I exited the whole game. Logged back in just to find the battle result screen. It had judged me as afk, or deserting the battle and awarded me 0 xp, 0 credits, and rank of Private, although it still showed the damage/kills etc that I had would have earned up to that point. Harsh, but lesson learned.
