it would be great if we could expect new effects in game. I would like to see so much rain on some maps, or even playing the game at night. That would be great.

So these are my suggests:

1. Setting time by defualt ( from 0-24h) sometimes you play at night, sometimes at morning, 21h or 9h

2. Playing in winter with snowing on hills, so you can't move your tank as fast as you want, and also snowing is dramaticly changing the way you want to aim the enemy.
3. Raining so badly and big fog, so you can't aim so good.
4. Good effects, that  on some part of the map makes your aiming harder.
5. Send should fly everythere when you want to shot someone.
So there are my suggest for new graphics updates. I hope these updates won't need more graphic card's memory but enought that we can play on currently specifications.

heavy rain or heavy snow or fog... and your view range 50 meters , imagine that  ... of course it could happen  only in realistic game  but in this star trek fantasy game it would be broken

p.s.: what about rainbows? I heard they are forbbiden in lands of Vladimir

I was just playing arty, trying to aim through the smoke from the burning station on studzianki and thinking, "this is really annoying" so yes, more effects.

Or a hail storm with sound effects each time an ice ball hits the tank. :hiding:

Good idea in theory. But... tbh we don't need more visual hinders for bad players to get past in this game that reduce their tanks effectiveness etc in form of penalties due to weather and night battles.

WOT console has day and night battles. But their mechanics works differently, thus it kinda works. As unspotted tanks have tracers, not just arty. And the entire area lights up when you fire, even when not spotted. But as some of you might recall. WOT PC already had two darker maps. As in they set them on fire and set the time to the late evening, and smoke did suck up most of the light. Both got removed, and on Ruinberg on fire, most complained that they did not see anything.

WOT console also has rain and snow storm battles of most maps. And mountain pass on console is a 100% winter map covered in snow that looks visually good in the snowstorm variant of it. Cliff looks great in heavy rain as they added effects on tanks, so the water drips off the barrel. So weather can work regardless if done like that with no penalties. But night nor weather did reduce spotting range, affected aim or camo on console. Again not to confuse most players. Fog just sounds like a bad idea tbh.

They already removed darker maps because some people had trouble distinguishing what was going on, so I would not hold your hopes up for too many weather effects.

Shame that is the end of it though, I loved Fiery Saliant, it was interesting in terms of lighting.

This.

Also, something that is also important is that extra effects have a toll on your PC performance, something that doesn't happen in consoles because their specs are more or less the same.

Yeah, bring back Fiery Salient.

Actually bring back Sand River assault, with or without sandstorms.

Edit: those maps would be great as night maps with arty firing flares as gold ammo to light it up.

I actually find these brighter maps more distracting. 1.0 felt like a new game, no map felt the same anymore. It's like, I felt more familiar with the old graphics...I definitely played better before 1.0.

On the topic of weather effects: Yes! With the amount of old pc's decreasing over the years, a weather effects update in 2020 would be expected... Rain, fog, snow, sandstorms (dududu-dudu), thunder and lightning...

I hear the cringe from all those that still play on Win98 machines...

I do not, but I still think that I prefer the clear weather we have now. Where I live it has rained or been overcast for almost a month, heck the only sun I get is when playing... (well, I had vacation not long ago but that is ot...)

It didn't affect the game at all, but we used to have a nice winter mod...

Great idea and simple to implement(in theory), just reduce view ranges, rendering range and detection time by about 20%

Heavy rain or snow that can fall randomly.

How would it work? Simplez.

During rain/snow.

1. All view ranges of tanks reduced by 20%

2. Max view range reduced by 20% circa 355 meters (445 - 89)

3. Rendering range reduced by 20% circa 450 meters (564 - 112.8)

4. Time spotted reduced by 20% 8 seconds (10 -2)

So with the above idea, not only do we get the interesting graphics that come with a heavy downpour, that darker setting and/or a driving blizzard BUT it also has a direct effect on how the game plays in what would be a fair way but also enough to have a nice twist on how the battle might unfold. What looks like a result in the bag for a certain tank because of it's favorable attributes might suddenly lose that advantage is there was a heavy downpour towards the end of the battle in a 1 vs 1 etc. I think this would be great fun and force players to think and also force them out from their camping position or have to risk more... also, the rain or snow can stop so suddenly the view ranges etc are restored and the battle changes once again.

2. Playing in winter with snowing on hills, so you can't move your tank as fast as you want, and also snowing is dramaticly changing the way you want to aim the enemy. We already have this, it's called soft terrain.
3. Raining so badly and big fog, so you can't aim so good. Because 25% RNG on pen, dispersion and damage ontop of the tank softstats is not enough.
4. Good effects, that  on some part of the map makes your aiming harder. Aiming matters when dappping that number 2 skill key.
5. Send should fly everythere when you want to shot someone. What?? no comprende amigo. Who do you want to send? GHOSTBUSTERs..
So there are my suggest for new graphics updates. I hope these updates won't need more graphic card's memory but enought that we can play on currently specifications. Adding weather effects on patato computers. Yea about that.

I'm wondering if modding some non-drastic weather effects would be possible?

Maybe adding some slight snowfall into erlenberg and the like?

I'm not huge into programming but if it is possible i could try it.

Why program it? Find a snow overlay for OBS and play tonks with the OBS overlay. Problem solved.
