Same tank, different damage, blocked damage and spotting damage, yet the one with lower numbers got the more XP.

It's not how much damage you do. But how you do it. You lose half the XP on others spotting etc. Or even a small bonus vs higher tiers. Blocked don't give anything.

He probably did more damage to higher tiers than you did, which gives him more XP

We don't know how much you each did on others spotting and vs higher tiers, as just because he did more damage at 300m or more than you. Don't mean he did it all on other's assist. If he only did damage to tier 9's and you did not, and all his damage was on his own spotting with no XP penalty. That could be enough to get past you, even with an extra tier 9 shot worth of assist.

As there are many factors on XP, and a fair bit of "small" bonuses that can make a difference if he got them and you did not, or got less.

Yes but if you killed the enemy tank by doing 100 damage or you kill the enemy tank by doing 1000 damage...that is the difference.

Why?  Surely being rewarded for being closer, spotting, and fighting higher tiers should be an encouragement?  Do you want a reward mechanism that rewards red line camping?

Also, I enjoy the irony of the spelling of retarded.

16000+ battles and we still need to explain how bonus XP for shooting higher tiered tanks work?

I also notice that the Leo PTA did more than twice the damage of the OP (and how much assistant damage that one got we don't know) but got even less XP yet strangely that deems the OP not even worth mentioning.
