Why does the Kanonenjagdpanzer 105 Tier VIII German Premium Tank Destroyer turn madly to the right when you stop moving forward? Did it do that in real life? I know in real life some aeroplanes and motorbikes have a native spin due to the mechanics of the engine, but not ever as bad as this because it would cause too many crashes.

I am aware other tanks do this mad right turn too when hit in the tracks  or just stopping and I just don't see the point of having this feature.

Do you mean when you are hit in the track?

No, I was running about just now as you do, re locating, and every time I stopped the TD would jerk to the right and no longer to face the enemy, so I have to move to aim again.

But the same happens on other tanks when track broken. (I can understand a destroyed track making you move 45 degrees off-centre of velocity)

Yea ok, I'm too new here to answer that (I played before they changed game engine).
If both tracks are ok and there aren't a angled slope where you slow down then I dont see a reason for why it would do what you describe.
I reckon you dont have a replay?

that sounds annoying.  my pet peeve is where I am auto aiming at a tank a distance away and the tank vanishes in a bush and the gun decides to go anywhere else but where I was pointing...  (yes I auto aim)...

Only 2-3 tanks to that of all I own. All of them mobile TD's. No idea why only on those or what the game engine base it on to make it differ vs the rest.

Ok, I went a bit nerd on this.
If the tank modules are given their own weight than the inertia from the offset engine and ammo rack would result in the swing of the tank you are experiencing.

I've been driving/driven in quite a few tanks but all of them had their heavy stuff pretty much centered so this didn't at least occur on them but it should be quite accurate that the above tank react like this irl given enough change of forward motion.

You know what tds and what direction they swing towards while braking?

Maybe you have fat fingers and touch the turn right key

No wait, it does it on medium/soft ground, so yes it does

Dear RockyRoller

Now you come to mention this, i have exactly the same experience.  I love the SU-85A and this does as you describe.

Rapid relocation, line up to next target, slam on brakes and slew sideways. I just thought it was a quirk, will take

more notes later.

Regards

Tommy

You're all stupid.

It happens because you're looking to the right/left of your gun's turning limit, so when you let go of the gas (stop) the tank thinks you want to turn, and you can turn turretless TD's without using A/D, it can be done simply by turning your mouse too far left or right.

Just aim straight or be in sniper mode when you suddenly decide to stop.

I remember having trouble with the ELC because of this. It's just the game's mechanics, allowing you to turn the hull with the mouse.

It's easy to get turned like this by accident the faster the tank is, and the narrower its gun ark.

You're all overthinking it lol...

I dont have the OPs tank so can't test it with a locked gun position, I'm not gonna call "idiot" before i've tested anything.

gold star to you good chap
