Honestly doesn't look too bad. and thats coming from someone who despises arty and [Edited]

 

Although don't get the point in changing the results screen. I like it how it is now. So an option in the settings to keep it as is would be nice, but not the end of the world if we dont.

We will have to see on the sandbox exactly how this feels to play and play against. Hopefully, it makes arty more interesting to play and make it require some actual skill rather than being the "noob" class. I despise arty as it is, and think a rework designed to make it more tactical would be great. Bring on the tests :)

 

BUT

Don't change the results screen it will look ugly and also if it's fullscreen, we won't be able to compare battle results in separate windows.

I don't think there will be an extra button to use the "old" results screen. The main reason for updating is giving it a fresh paint as it was quite rusty.

I'm not sure about the logic there.  Wouldn't it have been better to give arty shells the same 0 pen and new damage mechanic they used for tank HE in the last sandbox?  Then you get rid of the penetrating one shot kill but make damage more reliable and predictable, which is good for the giver and the receiver.

Yeah, looks interesting and not that bad, still 3 arty per game is too much but thats another story, I guess I will have to try out these changes

And 1 arty/ team max is needed. That damage without stun is good.

If i took in ranked more than 900 dmg in one shoot from arty in 277  (what reason to play heavy then) and also 2 arties simply deleted Decha in 279 in Clan Rivals this class is simply broken.

I think making it full screen is going to get complaints.

 

If you are on a laptop then it will be better but if you are using a 27" 4K monitor then it might look like it's trying too hard to fill the space.

Changes Id like to see to this absolute blight to the game class:

 

-Limit to 1 arty per team

 

-Keep splash radius the same for stunning targets but remove damage from indirect hits.

 

Problems these would solve:

 

Any game with 2-3 arty on an open map is a huge campfest. No one wants to make a move, get spotted and be the first one to take 3 hits. Also multiple arties focusing on a slow tank on say Prokhorovka is absolute bs. You are permastunned 24/7 or forced to camp at the back.

 

The worst thing about the last rework was the increased splash radius, which means normal houses, rocks or dead tanks don't provide cover as they used to. Whats the point of hugging a building when arty can DELIBERATELY miss next to you for 200-500+ damage.

I would love it if you you could limit SPGs a bit like you can exclude maps so if you have normal account you could limit it to 2pgs per game by selecting that button like you do by excluding a map and if you have prem acc then limiting it to only 1 spg per game

 

Would this work?

Reposting from the gameplay thread.

 

Unsurprisingly, the high damage, high burst, high pen shell will be the 'special' (newspeak for premium) shell.

 

The whole idea is flawed from the get go. Nobody is going to choose between stunning an enemy instead of causing more damage, for the simple reason that eliminating enemies is better than crippling them. Let's not bother pretending that by reducing stun duration and providing a better ammo option at the same time anyone will ever choose stun over damage when playing spgs, if not for the shell cost.

 

If this is your idea for the future, it's like you haven't learn anything with Type 5 derp.

I find it to be a stupid idea, unless you make the switch choice instant. because if its a single target , you might want to use a high damage shot. If there are multiple targets close to each other, you might want to stun them. Hard to believe you will have the right shell loaded when a spot occur, and changing the shell type in 30 seconds or so its not really a smart idea. So i find this choice completely useless, since people will try to figure out at the start of the game what they want to do ( like a mission, or what their commander wants them in a CW battle, and disregard the other two choices anyway and load full ammo of only one choice) . So no,  current option is better , even though the gold ammo need changes , because it gives nothing ( 1 m of extra radius is irrelevant, since after last nerfs , damage on circle edge is gone anyway so that 1 m extra does aproximately nothing ).

So far it doesn't look bad, I really appreciate the possibility of more shell types for arty but there are two things I consider to be bad:
 

1) If arty reloads 25 seconds or more, don't expect that players to switch the ammo because the situation changes way faster than arties reload. That means all will focus on damage.

2) Fullscreen battle results is not a good idea. It's okay the way it is now, nobody is complaining about it so let it be and keep your full focus at shell rebalance.

My expierence the last 3 years of any change in the game was the worst. I cant remember anything good. Struggling to reach a tier 10 tank and little later it is nerfed. I am tired with this "changes" which seem to be forced by specific players. It seems that WoT listening carefully some grumpy ones.

Now the shels  Tomorrow what? 
Your changes DESTROY the game

Tanks and arty that have long reload time , give no real opportunity to select what shell to use for situation .

Most of time u will use the shell u are already loading , as choosing another type will add too much loadtime in most situations .

I think most players would select favorite shell type at start and keep using same all game .

But the "fresh paint" always makes it worse. We don't make fun of the "UI guy" on a regular basis without reason.
