So i am in my LeKpz. 90 mm on Prokhorovka, happily surfing the mid ridge. Comes this tier 6 clown car flying over the ridge. He autolocks and hits me once. I can't get a lock on him but.....he's very close so ramming is an option. We are both around 50% health and mine is a tier 8 so i have the advantage.

So here comes my 10,6 tonnes of steel packed as a TANK, hitting the 8,5 ton CAR at 70 kmh.....and i die. A tank that has proven his ability to fight on several battlegrounds can't kill a car by ramming it. It has no trouble walzing over halftracks at Ruinburg but a car....

I don't have a replay, just take my word.

It's probably down to how the ramming damage calculation works, something like the armour of both tanks at the impact points, meaning you ended up taking more damage than him. I don't know enough about ramming things (normally I avoid ramming unless it's something funny at the end of a battle, or I'm in some big bulky heavy anyway, since it's just a waste of health IMO) to really say I could explain it.

I agree, that was silly but I guess he hit you with his corner so that the dmg disappeared into his wheels?

Must start playing Wheels of Steel by Saxon every time I have a car tank in battles.

A screenshot would be nice to assess what happened, but my bet is you rammed his sides with your frontal armour. Collisions are considered explosions in WoT, so spaced armour and external modules (like wheels) can absorb a lot of damage. A pro trick when ramming is using your tracks as impact point, to minimize the damage taken.

Y'all forgetting about that driver perk called "Controlled Impact"? It increases ramming damage by a significant amount. Also, if he had improved suspension equipment mounted (very likely, since movement is everything for a WV), that reduces the amount of damage he takes, because it absorbs damage taken from suspension impacts.

WV's are fast, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone decided to use one as a kamikaze-tank/car with that combo.

Enable replays and I am 100% sure it won't happen ever again. All of the weird stuff we hear on the forum are hapenning when replays are not enabled. Coincidence, I think not.

Replays are always rarer than you think they should be. It's a shame too, since a replay or even an in-game screenshot for some things would explain just about everything, yet most topics of the sort don't provide one (which is why we're always so happy when a thread does :teethhappy:).

Had a WV on enemy team that south spawned today on Overlord flew off the ridge south edge of E5 heading west so god knows how high but way way too high for any vehicle in this game to survive and yet on low health he did. ( He looked from my angle as though for a short while he gained a little bit more height at best half his vehicles height on top of the height of that ridge from directly behind the bunker ).

Just shows how broken how pathetic both WV and physics are in this game and how little clue wargamming devs have about anything.

Dava is right, it was my front against his side. That makes sense and i'll take that into account with my next ram. I checked after dying, it was purely the impact that killed me.

Btw, the same evening we won a battle on Glacier. I was in my AMX 13-75 at the highest peak of the aircraft carrier. Wanted to see how a skydive would look like so i jumped after last enemy was killed. Survived the crash while teammember still came driving by ...

they are way too strong.

I just started with my EBR Hotchkiss, so I still need to upgrade the engine, but so far, the play average on maps that are not good for WV, and on more open maps where they are good (Malinovka, Prokhorovka, Studzianki, Murowanka, etc.)  they are just game breaking.

i've rammed a bunch of LT and light MTs in my wheelchairs (to death), even when I had less HP.

nothing new there.

Only works against stationary targets afaik.

The wheels!

The wheels!

Those wheels are invincible.

Those wheels suck up each and every shot without problem.

Looks like those wheels can withstand ramming too.

you might have that kind of impression, because stationary targets will always take more damage than moving, not taking the point of armor that was impacted, into consideration.

No, wheels will always take more damage from ramming than anything else.

The perk only works if the player with it is moving faster than the other tank. Not sure if, but the WV was probably moving faster when OP rammed his side (can't know without replay...) and the suspension equipment would let the tracks absorb most of the damage on top of all that.
