So I was wondering about the festive spirit points required for specific spirit level. Did some digging and found out the following:

Lvl 2: 15 = 15
lvl 3: 24 = 39
lvl 4: 37 = 76
lvl 5: 39 = 115
lvl 6: 45 = 160
lvl 7: 60 = 220
lvl 8: 65 = 285
lvl 9: 75 = 360
lvl 10: 90 = 450

In case some1 didn't already know decorations give festivity points as per follows:

tier   points   shards

I       1           10

II      2            20

III     4            40

IV    8            80

V     25         250

Cost of crafting stuff

Totally random: 100

Random:

lvl 1     20

lvl 2     40

lvl 3     60

lvl 4     120

lvl 5     360

lvl 5 for certain slot  720 shards

lvl 5 for certain slot and collection 1080 shards

And apparently craftin large decorations cost as follows:
1st: 500
2nd: 1500
3rd: 3000?
4th: 5000?

Soooo. You should never ever craft anything else than lvl 5 decorations (if you are still short of atmosphere X). Until you have like 6 slots of the possible 13 filled you should craft random lvl 5 items for 360 a pop. After that you are maybe better of changing to crafting lvl 5 items for certain slot at 720 a pop. Let's assume you get the first five without duplicates, so the grand total in shards would be 5x360 + 13x720 == 11160 shards.

In the spirit of some more interpolation, I just opened 7 small boxes, for 350 shards. So 50 shards per small box. Right now we have daily missions for 17 boxes a day and weekly missions for 44 boxes. So you can get 7*17 + 44 = 163 boxes in a week. At 50 shards per box that comes to 8150 shards. So you should be able to get your festive spirit to tier X by xmas eve if you play all the missions every day.

And even if you play only some of the missions each day, you should be able to get to level X before the event is over.

Got to festive level 8 and a half in the first day and havent spent a cent on the big boxes yet. Nice that festive X is atleast obtainable without cashing out quite quickly

You shouldn't craft anything at all until the last day of the event because you may easily waste them on one you get for free in a box. Save your shards to complete missing ones at the end.

This thread reminds me of the scene in The French Connection in which the two crooks are having a lovely meal while outside the cops, Popeye and his sidekick, are freezing on the sidewalk

While true, this also means you will have less decorations, having less completion% and missing out on bonus credits during the event.

Yep, depends what matters to you when it comes down to it.

If your goal is to collect all the skins then you should wait and save up your shards so you can use then to complete the collections at the end of the event. If you have no interest in the skins and you're more interested in credits then as you say, use the Decorider to bump your festive level up and get your boost.

I finished the 2017 collection last year, and I cannot justify it. I have NEVER used the skins. I like the look of last year's skins, though (as I remember) and might look to get one or two of those.

Some are quite nice, some are frankly horrific. There's only a couple this year that look decent, I don't think I want tangerines on my tank but I saw someone with the carpet one on the other day and it actually looked good!

I just found some off-site pictures of last year's camo. The Christmas tree and what looks like frost on glass (at least in the picture) are the two I recall look OK. Even the fireworks looks good, although I wouldn't choose it first.

This year's are weird. I could consider the ?orchid? one on a small tank and, if you can change the decoration size, I would set it to the smallest. The others? Definitely only by chance and not by effort, methinks.

I also appreciate that, and i think it's smart that there is no no-lifing required for completion. However, you need more completion for the credit bonus, and the (crew/free)xp bonusses have been nerfed as well making it close to useless for players who want to play a variety of tanks (like returning players).

Yeah I went with the frosted glass and the fireworks one which ended up on the 260, looks pretty good actually. The other two didn't do it for me.

This year only carpet one which looked surprisingly decent in game and the flowers I'm interested in, have to see how they look on an actual tank tho. Gingerbread and tangerines just look terrible, but each to their own. :)

Can the large decorations be broken down into shards?

I thought people would want max bonus for the holidays, in case they did have some extra time in their hands to grind their tanks/credits with the additional bonuses. So nothing special :)

Yup. You are absolutely right. If your goal is the get as many of the collections full and get all the camos, you're better off saving your shards until you have collected all the decorations you can.

My goal was to first gain festive spirit X for some bonuses. After that I've been saving up my shards for some camo madness at the end of the event.
