Got 22k gold left from loot boxes and I've been looking for a tank destroyer that plays a lot like a heavy tank and I've not bought the Turtle cause I've heard the TS-5 is overall better. So, is it worth getting it this instead?

A heavy tank has a turret, neither the Turtle nor TS-5 do, so in my opinion they are not worth it.

Playing without a turret in WoT is just artificially handicapping yourself.

Unless you're unicom like Skillz who can make any tank work,Bulldog Drummond seems to love his, in two minds to get it to compliment my Turtle on my alt, but the on thing the turtle has over this is the gun depression, if this thing had that gun depression then it could almost fall into the OP mark, but then in the hands of a good player anything is OP.

On open maps this thing may struggle. certainly if a wheelie bin catches you

Do you really expect a definitive answer ?

Look at reviews on youtube and think about how it will fit with your gameplay. But knowing their "map awareness" is much better than yours.

You could also download replays on wotreplays to see the good shooting spots.

Got both

The TS5 is the better choice

A T10 gun with 3300DPM and better mobility

The Turtle is great fun but its mobility is awful

I like it - I find it very powerful if played right. If you stay mid-range to make the weakspots (lower plate, cupola) difficult to hit you can chew through enemies like there's no tomorrow. I ate a E75 yesterday from full health to 0 shooting through his turret front while he kept bouncing shots. The gun can be a bit trollish sometimes but with a 7 second reload time you can fire twice before an IS-3 fires again. It's a bit awkward to play as the gun arc is very narrow, so you need to "work it" a lot and plan your moves and positioning all the time, but it is quite mobile in close quarter combat compared to other heavies

And it makes good credits too.

If you like that kind of tank it's essentially a tier 8 T95. Drive at your enemy laughing while they bounce off you and tear them up with that high DPM.

For me it is not worth it. The only turretless thing I like is the Strv-series. Now you need to decide; is it worth for you to trade the turret and mobility for some extra firepower and armour?

the gun isnt that great in long range ..the capola is paper the armor  work only if the other team is mupetts and they dont now where to shoot ......for me it works and i play agresive but i have a 6 skill and 5000 games with e3 and t95 and a 6 skill crew with 6.6 sec reload for your style i dont think it will work if you havent play a tank without a turret  wait for defender 100% you have some good games.

Well .. It's a fun tank, but I find it to be a bit circumstantial and it needs to be played very much like a T28 or T95 ... And just as the T28/95, you have to be inclined to suffer the occasional 'Golden Shower' as people tend to go into 'easy mode' once they see something with a slither of armor.

I would agree with you but I don't think the Defender is going to come in the advent calender this year

Thing is with this tank on an open map it is like arty, it needs spotters to do their job, when they don't you just die quickly, Porovka or whayever it is called  (that map is just the pits) is perfect example of this and this TD is no T 95 where you can just plough forward like your 'Johnny concrete.'

No, most likely not. But we can still expect for two more offers, I would hold on. I think WG will sell 252U, IS-3A and Object 703 II sooner or later again. It is better to not have anything until that, than spending gold/money on something what is not fun to play with.

out of the three you mention only two are really worth it, the gimmick shotgun, rubbish, in fast gameplay there is no room at al for a tank with any delay in firing, I want the defender for my alt but it isn't going to happen.

Tbh... I would not spend it on the TS-5. Granted I've only played mine during FL vs randoms. And it only was good playing one way. As in with range so he could use that DPM and make the spots harder to hit. As I only got damage blocked at med to long rage vs close up. As I found out it's no brawler, armor is not that reliable vs most guns. The cupola and lower plate got full of holes vs even normal ammo. And the traverse is terrible on it to counter anything with mobility if you have nothing behind you.

For me the TS-5 is on the same page as the Churchill GC. It's all about the gun. If you get to sit at the back, or be ignored to let the alpha, pen and DPM work. It's amazing. Soon as someone aims at you or flanks you. It's trash and dies instantly.

As for crew training of US TD crews, we all got the Super Hellcat that is good at that part anyway.

While it's miles better than the tech tree equivalent T28, it might the best "armored TD" at tier 8, but...not the best tank.

Though, I did get my *** handed to me by one while in my E4...as ridiculous as that may seem.

Not quite true, people now know to shoot the LFP or the cupola, nice if you're hull down, open maps are your enemy though.
