Hello, I would like to suggest adding the Kingdom of Romania as a new nation to the game. The Romanian tanks are focused on a powerful gun and speed at the cost of armor, many of their best tanks being Tank Destroyers.

They have a lot of interesting vehicles out of which many are original, some are completly original, some are heavy modifications, some of them are improvisations by taking different parts from already existing tanks but it still leads to new tanks that don't exist in other countries, there is no tank in this list that is exactly the same in other countries except for 1 notable exception and a few that were never realised due to lack of resources, here is my proposal for the Romanian Tech Tree:

TIER 1: R-1 (Light Tank)
TIER 2: R-2c (Light Tank), Carul de Lupta R-35 (Light Tank), TACAM T-60 (Tank Destroyer) PREMIUM: R-2a (Light Tank), T-26-37 (Light Tank)

TIER 3: R-3*/T-3 N* (Medium Tank), R35/T-26 (Light Tank), TACAM R-1 (Tank Destroyer) PREMIUM: Maresal M-01 (Tank Destroyer)

TIER 4: R-4/T-4 H* (Medium Tank), Vanatorul de Care R-35 (Light Tank)TACAM R-2 (Tank Destroyer), Maresal M-02 (Tank Destroyer) PREMIUM: Maresal M-03 (Tank Destroyer)

TIER 5: T34-85R (Medium Tank), TACAM T-38 (Tank Destroyer) Maresal M-04 (Tank Destroyer) PREMIUM: TACAM R-2-88 (Tank Destroyer)

TIER 6: T34E-120* (Medium Tank), Maresal M-05 (Tank Destroyer)

TIER 7: T34E-150* (Medium Tank), Maresal M-06 (Tank Destroyer)

TIER 8: TR-77 (Heavy Tank), Model 89 (Tank Destroyer), MLI-84 (Light Tank), APRA-40 (Artilery) PREMIUM: TAB-77 1982 (Medium Tank), APR Aurora (Artilery)

TIER 9: TR-77-580 (Heavy Tank), MLI-84-M1 Jderul (Light Tank), LAROM (Artilery) PREMIUM: TAB-77 1983 (Medium Tank)CA-95 (Artilery)

TIER 10: TR-85 (Heavy Tank), TR-85-M1 Bizonul (Heavy Tank), Zimbru 2000 (Light Tank), Saur 2 (Light Tank), LAROM 160 (Artilery) PREMIUM: TR-125 (Heavy Tank)

Explained:

R-1 (Light Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Czechoslovak AH-IV tank. The armor was diminished from 15mm to 12mm and the engine from 60hp to 50hp, this reduced the weight by about 500 km leading to an increase in speed. A mechanized reconnaissance equipment was added.

R-2c (Light Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Czechoslovak Skoda LT vz.35 tank. A different turret and hull rear were added. The "c" stands for cemented "cimentate".

Carul de Lupta R-35 (Light Tank) -> Is a modified version of the French R-35 tank. A different turret and the gun 37mm SA18.

TACAM T-60 (Tank Destroyer) -> Is a modified version of captured Soviet early T-60 light tanks. A different turret and the gun 76mm F-22 M1936 were added. There is an improved version called TACAM T-60A that uses the later version of T-60 which had a thicker armor and disc road wheels.

R-2a (Light Tank) -> An improved version of the Romanian R-2c tank. A better engine, radio and thicker armor.

T-26-37 (Light Tank) -> Caputred T-26 from the Soviet Union where the 45mm 20K gun was replaced with a 37mm Skoda A3 gun.

R-3*/T-3 N* (Medium Tank) -> Was supposed to be a modified version of the Czechoslovak Skoda T-21 tank. This tank armed with a 47mm Skoda A9 gun would have beed modified and become the main medium tank of the Romanian army. But due to failed negociations and German intervention Romania didn't buy the T-21. At first Romania didn't want to buy the Skoda T-21 as during a test between Skoda T-21 and Praga V-8-H the Praga V-8-H proved superior, then the production for Praga V-8-H was canceled, then Hungary bought rights for Skoda T-21 then Romania wanted to buy the Skoda T-21 too but Germany blocked this. However, as a vehicle is needed for tech tree continuity the equivalent is T-3 N which is another unmodified version of a foreign tank, the German Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf N, unlike R-3, this one was actually used by the Romanian army.

R35/T-26 (Light Tank) -> Is a modified version of the French R-35 tank. A different turret and gun from the early models of Russian T-26 tanks. It was a prototype of the Vanatorul de Care R-35 were they swapped the whole turret of a captured Soviet T-26 tanks rather than only the gun.

TACAM R-1 (Tank Destroyer) -> Is a modified version of the Romanian R-1 tank. A different turret and gun from the Soviet 45 mm AT guns.

Maresal M-01 (Tank Destroyer) -> An original Romanian tank, the design of the German Hetzer tank destroyer was based on the Maresal tank destroyer. It uses the gun 122mm Howitzer M910/30.

R-4/T-4 H* (Medium Tank) -> Is a modified version of the German Pz IV H tank. A different turret and an original Romanian gun 75mm Resita M1942. The non-modified version also existed in the Romanian army under the name T-4 H
Vanatorul de Care R-35 (Light Tank) -> An improved version of the Romanian R35/T-26 tank. The French R-35 turret was kept due to having thicker armor and only the more powerful 45mm 20-K gun of the Soviet T-26 was added. An extension to constrain the recoil of the new gun was added. A new mantlet was made. A significant amount of the original French-made parts, from both the original and converted R-35 tanks were replaced by Romanian-produced spares. Better transmission and new wheels designed locally to be ten times more durable were added. The Romanian-converted R-35 had significant Romanian-manufactured parts in its hull, transmission and turret.

TACAM R-2 (Tank Destroyer) -> Is a modified version of the Romanian R-2 tank. A different turret and the guns 76mm ZiS-3, 75mm Resita M1943.

Maresal M-02 (Tank Destroyer) -> An improved version of the Romanian Maresal M-01 tank. It has a larger but stronger hull.

Maresal M-03 (Tank Destroyer) -> An improved version of the Romanian Maresal M-02 tank. It has an even larger and stronger hull. Welded armour plates and reinforced inner structure.

T34-85R (Medium Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet T-34 tank. A different turret and the 85mm S-53 gun.

TACAM T-38 (Tank Destroyer) -> Is a modified version of the German Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) Ausf. S tank. A different turret and the guns 76mm ZiS-3, 76mm F-22 M1936.

Maresal M-04 (Tank Destroyer) -> An improved version of the Romanian Maresal M-03 tank. It has a lower caliber weapon, the 75mm Resita M1939 and a modified hull.

TACAM R-2-88 (Tank Destroyer) -> An improved version of the Romanian TACAM R-2 tank. Capable of using larger caliber guns, the 88mm KwK 36 L/56 and 88mm PaK 43 L/71

T34E-120* (Medium Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet T-34 tank. A different turret and the guns 120mm Howitzer and 122mm Howitzer. The blueprint was made but the project was dropped due to Romania's inability to produce the necessary parts to handle the recoil of these large guns.

Maresal M-05 (Tank Destroyer) -> An improved version of the Romanian Maresal M-04 tank. The T-60 chasis was dropped in favor of a Romanian design and the suspensions were improved.

T34E-150* (Medium Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet T-34 tank. A different turret and the guns 150mm Howitzer. The blueprint was made but the project was dropped due to Romania's inability to produce the necessary parts to handle the recoil of this large gun.
Maresal M-06 (Tank Destroyer) -> An improved version of the Romanian Maresal M-05 tank. It required 1 more crew member to ease the job of the gunner and a new 75mm DT-UDR gun.

TR-77 (Heavy Tank) -> TR stands for Romanian Tank, "Tank Romanesc" and 77 is the year of production. It uses the 100mm A308 M1975 gun.
Model 89 (Tank Destroyer) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet 2S1 tank. It has a Romanian degined chassis and uses the 122mm 2A31 gun.

MLI-84 (Light Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet BMP-1 tank. It has a Romanian degined chassis and uses the 73mm 2A28 gun.

APRA-40 (Artilery) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet BM-21 Grad tank. Based on the DAC-665T six-by-six and 15.215 DFAEG trucks.

TAB-77 1982 (Medium Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet BTR-70 tank. Most of the use a 14,5mm machine gun but there are also those with 73mm 2A28 guns.

APR Aurora (Artilery) -> An original Romanian tank, it uses an ARO truck and a 12mm M21-OF-S gun.

TR-77-580 (Heavy Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet T-55 tank. It has a thicker armor and uses the guns 100mm A308 M1975 and 100mm A308 M1977.
MLI-84-M1 Jderul (Light Tank) -> An improved version of the Romanian MLI-84 tank. It has a new turret, a better engine and a 25 mm Oerlikon KBA autocannon.
LAROM (Artilery) -> An original Romanian tank, uses LAR Mk IV rockets or GRAD 122mm rockets.

TAB-77 1983 (Medium Tank) -> An improved version of the Romanian TAB-77 1982 tank, it has a 30mm gun and 9M14M "Malyutka" ATGM.
CA-95 (Artilery) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet 9K31 Strela-1 tank. Armed with four A95M-RC missles in 2 containers.

TR-85 (Heavy Tank) -> An improved version of the Romanian TR-77-580 tank. The engine and transmission were improved by using foreign technology.
TR-85-M1 Bizonul (Heavy Tank) -> An improved version of the Romanian TR-85 tank. In accordance with current NATO standards, uses a T-block powerpack similar to German Leopard 1 tank, an improved turret, a fire system, laser range-finder, night vision.

Zimbru 2000 (Light Tank) -> Zimbru or European Bison is an original Romanian tank. It uses a 25mm gun or 30mm Rheinmetall gun, and Malyutka/Spike ATGM on sides.

Saur 2 (Light Tank) -> An original Romanian tank, it can be armed with different turrets, such as 25mm gun with triple ATGM.

LAROM 160 (Artilery) -> An improved version of the Romanian LAROM tank, uses LAR Mk.IV 160mm rockets.
TR-125 (Heavy Tank) -> Is a modified version of the Soviet T-72 tank. It has a Romanian degined turret and chassis.

Tech Tree Design:

While when it comes to tanks, Romania can make a tech tree similar to other minor nations like Poland or Czechoslovakia.

W
hen it comes to airplanes, Romania can compete with major nations as it had a lot of IAR airplane models, there was a IAR plane for everything: IAR 11 CV L, IAR 11 CV H, IAR 12, IAR 13, IAR 14, IAR 15, IAR 16, IAR-21, IAR-22, IAR-23, IAR-24, IAR-27, IAR 37, IAR 38, IAR 39, IAR 39A, IAR 47, IAR 471, IAR JRS 79B, IAR JRS 79B-1, IAR 80, IAR 80A, IAR 80B, IAR DB601 Aa, IAR 80M, IAR 80M Jumo 221 Da, IAR 81, IAR 81A, IAR 81B, IAR 81C, IAR 81 Gnome Rhome, IAR 81 Concarde 1950, La-7, Bf 109G-6, Bf 109G-6A, IAR 81 BMW, IAR 81 DB, MIG 15, MIG 17F, IAR 93, IAR 99 Soim.

This is definitely a better proposal than the other romanian tech trees. But aren't the T-34 version tanks and TR version tanks classified as mediums and not heavy tanks ?

I think some of the vehicles you are proposing are a bit modern for this game. Nice work though.

The first half is decent. But labeling the late T34 models as heavies... Just, no.... They were medium tanks and even those projects were naming them as such.

From tier 8, most of the proposals are outside the timeframe that WoT is using. Again... i am against a romanian tech tree, or spanish, hungarian and so on, as you can't fill a tech tree with paper tanks or clones (though, WoT did it for the italians, czechs and polish, doesn't mean that we need more clones and fantasy tanks). I can accept an unified european tech tree, though.

Let's see..

TAB..no chance, its to new and is wheeled, and could eventually be put in a tech tree as troop carier, never as medium tank

MLI - Masina de Lupta a Infanteriei - Infantry fighting vehicle, entered service after 1984

MLI Jderul version, entered service after 1995

Why not MLVM too?

LAROM artilery...Hmmmmmm

LAnsator ROManesc de rachete, romanian rocket launcher...we dont have Katyusha yet...

And the topic names..Kngdom of Romania Tech tree...half of tree is comunist rRomania, not kingdom

And the Kingdom, exceptimg TACAM variants and Mareshal variants, the rest are imported tanks

On Daily bounce forum, i have seen a better and more realistic proposal for a Romanian tech tree, rejected by WG years ago

As we know from the previous nation trees, WG can always find find some tank project blueprints that no romanian ever heard of. :D

Most romanian players are free riders so I don't see WG investing much resources into a line that won't return too much cash.

Plus, most of the tanks are just russian copies so whould bring nothing new to the game.

PS: Before you say anything, I'm romanian...

The Kingdom of Romania formally ceased to exist in 1947, and arguably in reality in 1940. so if you want anything in it above Tier I/II the line will need a new name.

I would have expected to see more German/Czech tanks in the line, given that Romania was an Axis minor ally for most of WW2

What about CEGA, with 3-4 prototypes made, something between leopard 2 and Merkava?

What about last version of TR-85-M, best version of a T-55 tank ever made?

What about TAB-77,  with best survival percent in case of IDE meeting in Afganistan and Iraq?

What about MLI, the light tank used as infantrz fighting vehicle?

And, not mentioned by OP, MLVM; fighting vehicle for mountain infantry :)

You need to read more before speaking
