So I've been having a problem with this game since December when I came back after a long break and wonder if other people also have this going on. Every now and then, maybe 1/10 battles my game locks itself into 90-93FPS and it feels stuttery and laggy. I turn the turret round and I can see the micro stuttering in motion. I can sometimes release the W key and the game registers it with a slight delay. Ping is always sub 40ms on EU1 server but this has been happening in EU2 server as well.

I can stare at a rock from up close and it's going to be 90-93fps. I can get into an intense battle and it will be 90-93fps. I can look at the sky and it's 90-93fps.  And no this is not map specific, it happens randomly. I played maps where I had this weird fps lock and next time it was normal 130-144fps.

My normal FPS is 130-144, Freesync turned on, no V-sync, grass turned off.

I just wonder if it's a case of micro lags, mine does this at times....

Running pingplotter may help you determine this.

Sounds to me as if your GPU is carrying out thermal throttling.

Basically, if temps reach a certain point, and with a lot of newish cards this can be quite low, then your GPU will drop it's frame rate to prevent damage.

When temps drop, normal service, ie 130-144fps, resumes.

Might be worth running MSI's Afterburner or Asus Tweak, to monitor temperatures.

I know what thermal throttling is and I have never had issues with it CPU or GPU wise.
I monitored and temps are normal, frequency is normal, cpu is normal, gpu usage is normal, voltages are normal, RAM usage is normal....

Everything is normal also thermal throttling wouldn't happen for just a match then next few work fine then lock FPS again then work fine again....

Also it's always 91-93 never below or over that. I wouldn't be surprised if WG's engine is a complete fcuk up which can't properly function with 144frames/144Hz.

Dunno if related, but I had something similar today where I was suddenly jumping between 50-80fps instead of my normal ~180fps.

And that wasn't limited to just WoT either, btw, also saw like half my normal FPS in Black Desert Online.

Rebooting my PC fixed it.

No v-sync, g-sync or freesync turned on.

Did have, afaik, a lot of packet loss, or at least during my last battle before the reboot (reserves running), but otherwise normal ping.

Doubt that's related though.

Just so show the difference.
