AMX M4 mle 45. This heavy tank. How do you play this? ARL 44 was great compared to this. I did great in ARL 44. This I'm strugling bad. It has no armour, no speed, not enough gun depression so it can't hull down. Can't play a heavy front line role even when it's the top tier because KV3s Tigers, etc just eat it for breakfast. I just don't know how to play this tank. Please advice.

Farm at least ~2kk credits (or less depending how good you are and if you have premium account).

Mount 105 mm gun.

Load APCR and a few HE shells.

Great. Now your huge, paper tier 7 heavy with mediocre mobility has the best firepower of all tier 7 heavies coupled with 10 degrees of gun depression (frontally), decent aiming time and gun handling, and now it's playable.

There is no other way to play this tank without suffering. But with full gold 105 mm, Holiday Ops (+50% XP), personal reserves (+100% XP) and premium x3 victories you should be done with this tanks rather quickly. Tbh, you should grind this earlier and use x5 multipliers from Snow Maidens and x2 XP special... You could get stupid amounts of XP this way and finish this tank in a few battles (victories).

It's a garbage tank that needs much more buffing then it did to become competitive.

Did you know it's one of the earliest iterations of Wargaming's famous "Free XP sink" tanks on or around Tier 7? It's designed for people to get frustrated with it and skip part, or the entire tank, by converting gold into free XP.

I played through it shortly before it received the minor buffs a short while ago and it was terrible. You basically are a big XP piñata for the enemy tank and as stated above, if you pay Wargaming more by loading full gold ammo, you at least get some offensive power.

Crap, wish I had known this 2 weeks ago when I finished the ARL grind and didnt bother to buy the T7 since I had 19 other grinds to do. :( Oh well, I have plenty of credits and the Dinger reputation to live up to, so whenever I do buy it; full gold it is. :justwait:

Free to play version with 90 mm gun is total garbage. But pay to win version with 105mm APCR is the best tier 7 heavy. Amazing dpm ( 7.5 reload with food, bia and vents), good alpha damage, very good soft stats ( 105mm gun has so much better soft stats than 90 mm ) , - 10 gun depression ( only in front of the tank though) and decent mobility and view range. Sure you dont have much armor, but with firepower like that you dont really need it.

Like all above said, 105 APCR is the answer.. It has increased alpha on gold ammo, I mean..

I remember having very good results with it, and now I have checked, it has the best stats of all my tier 7, BY FAR

Oh, and I dont know where will u go after it, but if u go non autoloader line tier 8 is utter garbage, so if u have any blueprints left from Ops I recommend using them.

Yes - imagine completing the grind - only to find out that there's a tech tree split and you have to start all over again. I lost the will to live with the french heavies right there.

Of all the tech trees its the one that's disappointed me the most. The light/med line was a breeze all the way to tier 10 (my only tier 10 to date) thru the AMX13/90 and old lorraine: then they pissed around with the tech tree.

And THEN they pissed with it again to bring in WV, so back I had to go again.

Not enough gun depression?

So you think that -10° isn't enough?

Have you considered that the turret might simply be paper instead?

Ok so, do I play this up front aggressive brawler or just behind other heavies? or play support line but 100m behind them, poke out to shoot only when safe?

You got no armour, so play it safe.

Use your gun depression whenever you can, peak, smack people and go back to cover. Rince and repeat. In the end of the battle use your hit points to trade. Enemies usually don't see you as a threat so you can do some funky stuff.
