Now that we have double-barrel tanks in the game I feel WG need to step up and add some really hilarious tanks in the game.

Tier V: T-35 heavy tank with multiple turrets.

Tier VI: T-34-3 (Russian up-gunned version of the T-34 medium tank with 2 45 mm guns in addition to the 76 mm F-34. Could be switched in game with 2 57 mm ones for MOAR DAKKA).

Tier VII: Kv-7 heavy tank (actually existed as as TD, but a heavy with 3 guns just sounds more fun, no?). Could get 1x107 mm gun, like the T-150 heavy + 2x76 mm guns.

Tier VIII: Super-KV2 (yeap, that hilarious pic). You could fire the 3 turrets at one for a potential of 2730 damage with HE. Turn the turrets in the general direction of the enemy and just click. Watch the grid you aimed at explode. Come on, everyone who can see this would want it :))

Tier IX  The SMK, a proposed heavy tank that lost in favour of the KV-1. Kind of overtiered and would need different guns, but I trust the WG designers.

Tier X: The ultimate hilarity, the super-ridiculous KV-6 land battleship. Yes, it's totally fake and no one ever suggested anything like it IRL, but since when did reality got in the way of WG? You can shoot in every possible direction at one, launch Katiusha rockets at targets beyond the hill and ram anything to death. Just don't try to turn.

Meh. You started well with 3 interesting design, but ended with 3 totally useless ones... Sad... :(

The idea of multi turret tanks is suggested by as long as I dwell this forum. Same goes for multi gun tanks with 2 same caliber guns or different caliber guns.

But looks like WG gave up on multi turrets after 2017 Halloween event.

Some multigun concept would be nice. Like the B1 tank or Churchill 1, but other would be basically useless apart from destroying obstacle or hitting ultrapaperish tanks, like the 45mm on KV-4 turret or the 5cm on Maus and E100...

Average players are not even able to handle one turret together with the hull movement. How should they manage with more than one turret? :hiding:

Fortunately Russians had way more multiturreted super-heavy designs than just those that they could make more "reasonable" multi-turreted super heavy branch. I would prefer French super heavies if multiturret mechanic ever gets introduced, though, namely for more iconic tanks like FCM 2C and FCM F1 and for the sake of having something else than another Russian branch (multi-turret RU HT branch would be 6th heavy branch on Russian tech tree...).

Below is a very rough idea what a multi-turret RU HT line could look like. T-35 should be there, but as WG is stripping out low tiers and T-35 really is tier 3 (or tier 4 at best) material, I don't think we'll ever see the tank outside from maybe a low tier gift tank (which would admittedly be very fun):

Tier 5: SMK or T-100

Tier 6: T-100Z

Tier 7: T-39-I

Tier 8: T-39-II

Tier 9: VL-I

Tier 10: VL-II

SMK is what you already covered, but the reality is that it's tier 5 material instead of tier 9. It would have a fairly simple turret layout of two turrets, being good for practicing the mechanic. Basically imagine KV-1 with a bit worse armor and larger silhouette but better firepower.

T-100Z

KV-2's brother, more or less, though with it's large size and multiple turrets it's probably closer to the O-I, just with less armor but functional 2nd armament and better mobility. One of the proposed T-100 based assault tanks with 130-152 mm guns, this one had a 152 mm gun in a turret. Lost competition to the KV-2, and the 130 mm casemated design that eventually became the SU-100Y was picked instead.

There's also the T-42 super-heavy which would fit tier 6-7 (or maybe tier 8 premium? )

Just as stupid as it looks, +100 tons, 5 turrets, two 1000 HP engines and so overwhelmingly long that it makes the TOG look like a joke. For practical reasons (the tank is like 15-17 metres long...) I left it out, though, it really wouldn't work too well in-game.

T-39 super-heavy tank

It keeps getting worse, here you have the T-39 super-heavy tank which had several turret and gun options. Bigger than Maus, weights 90 tons, historically had crap all armor though for in-game purposes it could be easily buffed to the point it fits tier 7-8, and generally just ridiculous. It also has double guns so you could go full crazy and mix up double barrel AND multi turret mechanics on it. Small turrets had 45 mm guns and main turrets either double 107s or single 152 howitzer.

VL super-heavy tank

260 tons, 2x 75 mm turrets and one main turret with naval guns ranging from 130 mm to 305 mm, 12m long and 6m wide, which would make it by far the biggest tank in the game. 305 mm is obviously overkill but I'd reckon you could split the tank in two and give the tier 9-10 guns ranging from 130 to 152 mm or something.

I don't think WG should actually implement these even though I would love to drive by myself, super-heavies are already hard to balance but with complicated mechanics like these, I don't know. Again, I feel French super-heavies would be a better option and probably easier to balance too, as they are a little bit less ridiculous (but still ridiculous).

That being said, team damage was the biggest issue with the multi-turret mechanic that was tested back in 2017 with the Halloween mode. Now that team damage is gone, I can see it actually working if WG made it less buggy and bit more comfortable to use, especially now that they figured out how to make double barrels work. WG actively wants to add new gimmicks to the game so it's only the matter of time they introduce a multi-turret branch to the game, which is most likely either the French or Russian super-heavies.

Pretty sure the guy behind the italian HT tech tree proposal found out that this was actually an Ansaldo design, sold to USSR... I guess it may appear in the announced italian HT tree.

Yea, it could work for both trees. WG specifically confirmed that Italian HT line won't have multi-turrets, though, so the T-39/Ansaldo is already deconfirmed.

That makes me sad...

Almost as sad as I was when Fiat 3000 was confirmed as tier 1 instead of Fiat 2000... :(

WG abandoned the multi turret/gun thing, not sure why, but probably they found it more problematic than expected to make it worth the effort.

In the Red Army comrade, one never turns. You just go forward to crush the fascists.

@leggasiini

Congratulations, your branch is far more realistic (if I may use such a word). But tell me true, would you not want a triple-turret KV-2? Just think of the epic lulz.

As for how it could work, I think they could just reuse the double-barrel mechanic for turrets. Click first time, it fires the gun from the main turret. The loader starts to reload it. Click again it fires the gun from the next turret. And so on, depending on how many guns/turrets you have. Hold down the assigned key for X seconds to fire a salvo (3 guns at once!). For simplicity, all turrets would turn simultaneously when you move the mouse and aim at the same point.

Japanese HTs tier 5-8 already have multiple turrets, no need to add anything, just make things work.

Yessssss!

Matilda with 2x 2 pounders.

And then make up something like "soviet forces captured it and fitted it with the other gun" so it's also RASHAA.

edit: Or just give it 2x 57mm and make it a tier5 premium!

Indeed they did. As WG did brand that event test a failure. Don't recall the reasons atm for it. But they did shift focus away from it after that event.

That would mean that the Germans had to have captured it first and then nerf it so the Soviets could capture and buff it.

As hilarious as it might sound, no, it would be terrible for the game. It would do 800-1000 damage by just splashing people with one salvo, and since its 3x guns it would do absolutely ridiculous module damage. It would be awful to fight against, nobody wants to take 800-1100 damage and there's no way to avoid that damage with any kind of armor because it's HE. A Super KV-2 would hold flanks and nobody would ever want to push it, leading into stalemate games. And it gets much worse if there's many of them, which would probably be the case, making the games unbearable for anyone else. It wouldn't be able to do the massive damage constantly, but the fact it has that kind of ability in the first place is already ridiculous. One 152 mm is also already powerful, so the tank wouldn't be harmless even if it had only one gun reloaded. Not to mention the fact that it can delete absolutely any tank that it can pen with it's HE shells. If it loads gold AP it can pen the rear of most tanks in the game; it'd be able to oneshot even tier 10 heavies with a high roll. And finally, with that massive height it has, it would be incredibly clunky and awkward to drive, and to balance the ridiculous damage potential it has, it would probably have even worse gun stats than the regular KV-2, while having super, super tall profile that cannot be hidden and no armor for it's tier.

A multi-turret/multi-gun tank can very well work but multiple derp guns will almost certainly be a terrible idea. Singular derp guns are already very, very challenging to balance without making them neither broken and toxic or too heavily counterbalanced to the point they are bad. See - Japanese heavies, WG simply haven't succeeded with derps on those tanks, as they are either broken (O-I, O-Ni, pre-nerf Type 4 Heavy and Type 5 Heavy), or too weak (post nerf O-Ho, Type 4 and Type 5). The truth is that even the KV-2 itself is not very well designed, but it's been in the game from the start, it's iconic and it's not really breaking the game so it gets away with it.
