20 days ago I started playing again, mosty TDs and HTs,learning the maps etc.I was never a high tier player cause mostly f2p.So i unlocked the 0bj430, xp was so easy with all the bonuses(prem acc,x5s,holiday slot).I bought it since it is has almost no stock grind and high base pen.

I started my session and i hated it from the get go...

- Burns every other game.

- Hull armor doesn't hold even against t8s.Turret is actually nice.

- The gun depression needs a lot of work, forgot how bad is -5, (last time i played with -5 was with is-8 ).

- Gun is potato thrower. Can't snapshot very well.

- Bit sluggish but dont have the top engine yet.

I guess the strong point of this tank is the firepower, alpha and dpm.

I am surely not ready for t9-t10 gameplay(positioning/map awareness),my DPG went from decent to tier 7 lvls when i finished my session(25 games).I was playing tilted and really bad. Luckily the teams carried me.

That feeling when you fail in a strong tank :hiding:.

Should i buy the tier 7 CZ med and practise with a -5 depression tank or keep going with t9s?.I have T-54 and T-10 in top config from the old days.I was going to grind with bonuses/use some blueprints for the 140,277 and maybe 340U but after the fiasco session will probably not... .

They're good tanks, but if bad gun depression really grinds your gears then stick to what you like.

I hate my 430 too but not necessarily for the same reasons.

The tank is undoubtedly extremely strong. So strong in fact that I keep winning despite playing it like absolute garbage.
It has extreme armor for a medium. I'd say the armor works much better than the armor on some heaviums like the T-10.
The frontal armor bounces things quite frequently, the turret can bounce almost anything and the sides are super strong so I've been able to sidescrape against almost anything I've encountered.
Unlike you I can't remember ever being set on fire in the tank either.

But still I'm not doing well in the tank because it just doesn't suit my style.
It feels clumsy. Slow and sluggish with a gun that's absolute potato.
I'm guessing you're supposed to drive up and shove your gun into the mouth of whoever you're fighting but that's just not how I play...

So yeah, I win by playing it but I'm not having fun and my personal stats in the tank apart from WR are nothing great.
I'm probably not going to buy the 430U.

IMHO, Tier IX Mediums are all great vehicles. But then again, the 430 has to be one of the least appealing to me. The biggest problem I've had with this tank was that it lacked view range and that it was a one-trick pony - only able to trade shots, but not sustain it's DPM like most others. I didn't mind the mobility being lackluster - at least it has some armor. Gun was kinda OK, but I'd much rather wave around a 105mm from the M46 or the AMX 30 1eme.
Grind wise - this tank was absolutely no problem, like all the other Tier IX Mediums.

I really enjoyed the Obj.430, good alpha, good armor and good mobility. It is a great all-rounder for new players.

One thing that I love about the 430 compared to the other 390 meds is the overmatch capabilities of the 122mm. The armor is brutal and I also don't recall being set on fire much. Dispersion values aren't great, but it's Russian so it hits anyway.

It definately burns, since the fuel tanks are in the front.I am using Vstab/rammer/optics,initally i tried food with FF directives(had plenty),then i switched to prem FE and optics directive.

The tank is good,i was doing way too many mistakes...positioning,overestimating the armor, exposing my hull trying to find gun depression and fighting tanks that i shouldn't.As i said im not ready for t9-t10,must play more patiently or drop down to tier 7.

As for the 430, this isn't anything amazing but I think this is how the tank is supposed to be played, abusing the insane side armor.

If the Obj 430 had been British it would have been the the tank that earned the name "Tommy Cooker" It does set on fire more than any other medium I have upto tier 9 and really does need imo a fire extingusher as min. Other than that once upgraded it does start to play well, but the grind through the modules with an unskilled crew is a painful grind.

I tried my old T-54 for few battes, with the dpm gun(prefer it/amazing soft stats and -6 depr) and was top 3 in every game.Fits my style way more and have better crew in it 4 skill.I will go for obj 140 and do x2-x5 with obj430. I will get used to high tier gameplay and the maps (eventually).

Thnx for the replies guys:medal:
