I really couldn't care less which over-hyped streamer has the most fan bois.

All this pandering narcissism makes me ill.

Well, as with all events. It's not for, or aimed at everyone. Nor do everyone have their fav streamer on there. So I suspect you're not alone.

Even tho it was nice to play tier X's again with no stats hanging over them. Just test them out and have fun with it. Basically what I did. Heck I even played the 260 for the first time today. Had it for years.

If you look closely, there was a question.

Imagine ever having cared about streamers in the first place. :teethhappy:

I mean, some of them make useful youtube videos, but that's about the extend of what I watch.

Explanations of game mechanics, opinions on newly released premiums, scouting positions/guides...

And that's about it.

Maybe it's a generational thing?

I am, after all, firmly middle-aged:(

How many games did you play approximately and how far did you get? I'm still wondering if I should bother and I wonder how fast it will go.

Quite possibly so.

I'm not the youngest anymore either, being from Showa 62 (1987), so streaming for the most part simply didn't exist when I grew up.

Getting music or a telly series from the internet was basically the best I could find for my teenage years.

And watching someone else play a game when I could be playing it for myself instead is kinda... why would I even.

I got a job, I got money, so if I want to experience that game, I can simply buy it and play it myself.

If I got time to watch a video of some sorts, it is either a telly series, or an educational thing about various historical things (e.g. lindybeige, metatron, skallagrim, shadiversity, etc.).

While for the kids these days, they basically grow up with streaming being a major thing.

I don't really care about streamers and certainly not who has the most fans but I do want a free commander.

Also the 7v7 is fun. It makes the maps feel bigger, there is little to no arty and you never find yourself in a 1v15 situation.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there - most of this is squarely aimed at their target audience.

I'm too old :(

Why do people go to watch movies, go to theaters or art museums?
It's pretty much the same thing. If you want to see art, why don't you paint something yourself?
Why pay to go watch a football match when you could play yourself?
Why do we watch comedians when we could just crack jokes ourselves?

Streams are a mix of all of these.
Educational. You can watch somebody who's far better to see how they do it and learn from them or ask questions.
Entertainment. Most of them have unique personalities and people tend to have their own favorites who suit their humor, mood, play style or whatever else.
Community. Hundred or thousands of people sharing the same interest/passion communicating and joking with each other while watching a game they like played by somebody they find entertaining.

Because being a CC doesn't mean you actually have to be good at the game. I mean I know of 2 of the captains but I haven't got a clue who the other guys are. I have to agree with the OP though I just feel a bit queasy about players being included into the game itself, personally I think Daki in my perspective has done more for the game than at least 3 of those guys (as I know Mailand is a hell of a player) but it's WG and common sense has never been their strong point.

Because some things are within the scope of our abilities, while others are outside the scope of our abilities.

And being able to perform an opera, is well outside of my ability.

Likewise, painting something like De Nachtwacht is also well outside of my ability.

Playing a computer game, on the other hand, is will within my ability, even if it is not at the same level as that of some other players.

Doesn't really make much sense I'm afraid, I mean every knows how to play football but there's a reason some of us play with mates and some us get paid 250k a week and inhaling talcum powder off some models baps.

Not at all, your comparison is wrong.

You may be able to play a computer game, but you could also sing opera. You'd just be awful at it.
Practice could make you better at either.
A 47% player in WoT is equal to an amateur singing opera or maybe more accurately... average Joe singing in the shower.
