Wargaming wiki states (https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Battle_Mechanics#Fire_Damage):

"It should be noted that driving while being on fire increases the extinguishing time considerably. And its maybe just a rummor. "

Is this true? Or is this just trolling?

What about the "And its maybe just a rummor." part?

I haven't got a clue, but all I can say is that moving your tank whilst you're on fire will increase the fire duration.

I run food on all my tanks and anecdotally it's true, I try to find a safe space to park at these days when I get lit before repairing up.

Discovered that text too, about a year ago. Assumed it's true, but never tested or saw numbers of it.

See, even after 35k battles, after 7 years of playing the game, I've still managed to learn something new... (if it's really true)

Daki and Mailand tested it week or so back and proved it wrong.

One would think this was common knowledge by now, but here we are. Better spam this sort of information around if that ultimately ends up saving someone.

Remember when WG posted their new "how things work" videos? The one about spotting had even people with 50K go nuts. As they had no idea that spotting was also via the gun sight, not just the cupola. And I learn new things still too. So it's not just you.

Eh, I think that we've tested this a while back with a few people, and concluded that it is false.

Of course it helps. It depens on the amount of water. Want to see the explosion that happens, when you throw the burning pan in a river.

Which is funny because light tanks do have a tendency to just keep burning forever since, you know, they need to keep moving.

It's a weird system though which has a bigger negative impact on certain classes then on others, which is perhaps why it should be changed if it's present.

Great question, great answers, and another proof that the wiki is wrong.
