Please WG, please! Can we take a break from all the marathons and specials?? Please? Randoms are total edited lately, it's really hard to have few decent games in a row.

I get it, free stuff is cool and all and it keeps server population up but at what cost?

Platoon, banter, and a complete lack of caring are the recipe to enjoy the game (and on average playing well will pay off anyway).

Who is holding you hostage and forcing you to play during the marathon? Can you get a message out without endangering yourself? Do you need us to call the authorities?

While I agree there are too many events going on I don't agree that gameplay suffers when there is an event.

Depends on the event... more so when it is those there have a requirement of kills.

I guess that events do have an effect on play style.

Those who don't bother with events probably don't change their play style.

Those that make an effort to complete an event, probably do change their play style according to the events requirements. Just as a player setting out to MoE a tank will probably be concentrating on meeting the MoE requirements rather than on just playing normally.

The only solution, that I can see, to this would be to dedicate a server to events and missions etc and leave the other for standard battles, or to create a Mission/Event mode along the lines of FL or the recent Team Challenge events.  The only flaw to this is the players that are happy to take part in an event but in a casual way would still go to the event server/mode but play as normal.

Would this have a negative effect on the serious event players?

It could be an interesting exercise to evaluate the the effect of missions on general play, and the number of players who involve themselves in them.

Sadly WG will not give up on a chance to lure people falling into pits that have a 50% discount for the ladders to exit.

All I know is that servers perform harakiri during any decently sized event.

The number or "wtf servers, lag, ping help" threads has increased ever since Christmas events.

Yet every time we have these mission marathons with excessive time input requirements each day for the average player we get comments re game play.

So pretty obvious that for a number of players they are perceiving a difference. I see a difference in game play and though grinding for the 113 at present did not play yesterday and may not play today. as I have stated on multiple threads marathons to me should be about encouraging players back and encouraging an increase in game hours per week. This though is way too excessive and they need to cut the hours per day in half ( simple way double the time you have to complete the missions marathons ). This would also imo improve game play as it would reduce the pressure on players.

IMO no real need to separate servers. Team Clash event showed the results, as a lot of the players were in Team Clash...randoms were a total crapshow.

I am having quite difficult time during this marathon...nowhere near as how bad it was during Team Clash.

I found it senseless to introduce the marathon during the event on the global map, after having played almost 4 hours every night to win is5 and vk72, sincerely playing again to win yet another tank at the moment after so many hours of play I find it really wrong.

I find it a wrong time choice and something to keep the players glued for a really excessive number of hours ,obviously nobody forces me to play, but too many events that overlap is really a bad choice.

Exactly... or like in the previous TS-5 marathon where there was stage with a requirement for number of battles with 500HP damage - which lead to mass suicides from people rushing to get into the next battle after 1 shot of damage. I know, because I was doing it...

I don't think the gameplay changes, it's just the pressure to do whatever makes you notice anything getting in your way of that goal.

Whereas I don't have any such pressures so it's just a normal day for me.

Apparently, people who work in chicken farms eventually don't notice the smell.

Marathons like this dangle a carrot in front of players. Given most players are bad, it's hardly going to give an incentive to good players to play more. Especially when they're frazzled out from eleven days of CW, and the tank is OK at best.

But either way, I'll paste today's server active player stats from WoTlabs. No idea what their capture period is, but I'll see if it changes by 2 March.

The idea with special missions/modes like this marathon and FL is to attempt to maximize the amount of players into the game.

FTP players get online to win a t8 prem, some of them stop being ftp and buy stuff maybe, paying players play, and then use discount attained to buy tank, and less care is given to people that don't play the modes.
