Hiya tankers!

With the NB announcement and especially the tech tree rework about to be further supertested (http://forum.worldof...ctors-vehicles/), I started to think “what is the best strategy to make the most out of it”?

(And I know the plans are subject to change, so I will update this as more details become available. )

Eliting stock tanks & unlocking next-in-line-tanks for free:
In the initial New Balance video from 8:17 on, WG mentions that "when you have any of these (T6+) vehicles in your garage when the update is released, it will remain in your garage. Moreover, it will be converted to a Special vehicle and you'll get it in its top configuration. Even if you've not researched a single module for it yet. If you've previously researched and purchased a vehicle that is now removed from the branch, you'll automatically unlock* the next vehicle, or the vehicle of a higher tier in the same tech tree."

*this means you still have to buy it at some point.

So which Tier 6+ tanks are planned to be removed and are worth obtaining - unlock, buy & leave stock - if you haven’t yet, saving you playing time and xp grinding/freexp’ing it:
КV-85; unlocks the IS
КV-13; unlocks the IS & A44
SU-14-1; even though no word from WG about this vehicle, it (potentially) unlocks the SU-14-2
Т-62А; Tier X, doesn’t unlock anything further
VK 30.01 (D); unlocks the VK30.02(D)
Jagdpanther II; unlocks the JagdTiger
T21; It is followed by the T71DA, which is also being removed, so you would only get this tank elited if you own it stock.
M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo; unlocks T20 & T29
T71 DA; unlocks the T69
AMX 30 1er prototype; It is followed by the AMX 30B, which is also being removed, so I doubt you will also get the AMX 30B; you would only get this tank elited if you own it stock.
AMX 30 B; Tier X, doesn’t unlock anything further
Churchill Gun Carrier; unlocks AT7
Sherman Firefly; unlocks Challenger
113; Tier X, doesn’t unlock anything further

However, since WG also stated that:  "If these changes go into the main version, these vehicles, including those of Tier VI–X, will be accessible and available for purchase with credits. There’s no need to rush into researching these vehicles as you will be able to buy them at any time after the potential update goes live."

So why would you grind and buy them before the actual update goes live?
Because as already mentioned; it saves you playing time and (free)xp to get the next tank in line. I plan on obtaining the Jagdpanther 2, leave it stock so I get it in elite configuration and I save an extra 150,300xp by getting the tier 9 Jagdtiger unlocked for free!:B

Furthermore, it will most likely save you credits as well, since Dwigt stated:

There has been a lot of changes since SB launched and with all the feedback from the forums and the survey so everything that hasn't been announced is subject to change at any moment. I hope more info regarding this specific topic will be shared soon. As for the prices on SB, nothing is set for now but since these vehicles would not require XP to be unlocked so I imagine they're going to cost a little bit more.

Even though these are preliminary plans, it sounds plausible that the aforementioned and the low-/midtier tanks are going to cost more compared to their current credit price.** Thus, obtaining these vehicles now may save you a pretty penny – even though not all tanks are considered meta tanks.

**Subject to change, but the sandbox test price difference can be seen here: https://ritastatusre...h-tree-changes/

Factoring in the 50% refund price you get, some of these tanks may be interesting to buy before the new update, and sell with profit after the update! :coin:

Blueprints:
Lastly, in the NB video, WG states that: “Blueprint fragments of vehicles that we’re going to remove, will be converted into national blueprint fragments. If a vehicle has been moved down a tier, which cause a difference in the number of blueprint fragments, this difference will also be compensated with national fragments.”

So if you don’t plan to buy the Jagdpanther 2 for example, but you do have 2 BPs on it; those two will be converted to national German BPs. Same applies to any of the other 91 unresearched & to-be-removed tanks.

The down-tiering compensation only applies to the Crusader, which will go from Tier 5 to tier 4 (http://forum.worldof...ctors-vehicles/), which means the BP requirement goes from 6 national to 4. If you own it, you should get 2 national UK BPs as compensation.

I do realise most of those reading this will probably own or have grinded past the mentioned tanks, but I wanted to do this for those of us, myself included, who haven’t yet. I might even drop a link to this thread in the Newcomers Section to help the newbies out, so feel free to add your own advice, or point out where I am wrong. ;)

In this list you will find all tanks tier I-V which will be replaced, from tech tree to ingame store. I made an overview of the profit of all these tanks if you buy them now and sell them for half of the price they will cost when replaced to the store. This is the top 28 (i.e. all tanks that make at least 10k profit) of tanks you should buy if you want some easy credits. It is based on the list that undutchable shared, I have no idea if the prices are remotely correct, but hey it was fun to do.

In the hypothetical situation the prices are exactly right, you can buy these 28 tanks, leave them in your garage and sell them when they are replaced to the store and you will make a fine profit of just over 725k credits.

The tanks highlighted in green are tanks that are supposed to go up one tier, so it might be a safe bet to buy at least those ones.

Furthermore you can of course buy tier VI-X tanks and sell them, but they might or might not be as easy to obtain again as these tanks, as the list provided only the costs in gold (which was exactly the price in credits divided by 400).

So, here is the list:

Nation Tier Name Price now Price after Profit
Britain IV Covenanter 110.000 410.000 95.000

Don't know if it will help anybody at all, but I thought lets post it anyway.

Edit: btw, apart from buying some premium vehicles I'm trying to play this game as much f2p as I can handle (i.e. no premium account), so 700k credits is very welcome, guess that won't be true for everyone ;)

Pretty much what I've been doing for the past ~2 weeks, almost there already. I'd like to add a few things though:

-) Buying the JPanther II now will not only unlock the Jagdtiger, but also the top gun on the Ferdinand (worth 63.000 xp; Jagdtiger's stock gun). Should make for a more enjoyable playing experience for those who want to get it eventually.

-) Buying (maybe researching is enough) the 113 unlocks the top gun for the WZ-120, not sure if we'd get the gun if we buy the 113 after NB goes live, due to the reward vehicle status of the 113. Definitely a nice bonus for those who plan to go for the 121 at some point. (Note: The top gun requires the top turret and the tracks to mount, so you'd still have to sink 45.900 fxp into the tank/grind 45.900 xp with the 2nd gun. On the other hand, the gun in question costs 59.000 xp if you research it from the WZ-120, so one could argue there's some xp/time to be saved here. Anyways, starting a tier 9 grind with elite configuration is very nice, so it might be worth it for some.)

-) Buying tier 6-10 tanks now in order to sell them after NB hits live will most likely disappoint. I expect the gold values (=sell price) of those new reward tanks to be super low, as seen on previously removed tier 10 tanks (Foch, Deathstar).

-) Getting any of the removed tanks saves a lot of xp, so I'd suggest to now grind every soon-to-be-removed tank if you want the tier 10 after it at some point.

-) Getting the tier 3 10s now will (probably) save a boatload of credits, as I expect 20-25 million credit price tags for future tier 10 reward tanks (as seen in the BM specials).

-) Due to the new TOTT-format (2 weeks per tank) and the fact the Deathstar got TOTT before it got replaced I think we can somewhat expect the departing tier 10s to get a TOTT before their removal. Might be a nice opportunity to finish the grinds and buy tanks with discounts.

-) The XP-fever special returns this weekend (29.02. - 02.03.), most likely with a discounted conversion rate for tank-xp --> free xp. Might be an opportunity for those with a handful of gold to spare to get some free xp to ease the upcoming grinds.

-) We can use NB to (potentially) get into previously unresearched tanks lines, because some branches of the tech-trees will be shuffled around (KV-2 will not lead to the SPG line, but to the SU-152 in the Obj. 268 line after NB). So in theory we can grind some xp on tanks like the KV-2 now and immediately jump into new lines after NB releases. There's been an article on TDB recently, showing before/after pictures of the tech trees. Follow the link below and use it as a reference.

https://thedailybounce.net/world-of-tanks/world-of-tanks-sandbox-tech-tree-changes-in-more-detail/

PS: Thanks for the "wall of text" @undutchable80, 100% sure this will help some people. Feel free to copy anything in this post into the main post, so others don't have to go through the entire thread to get all the tips.

:honoring:

The T6+ vehicles will get Special status so yes, in those you can use other crews. However, as far as I know, they will NOT get the credit bonus like standard premium tanks do. The T5 and lower tanks being moved to the Collector's section are NOT classed as Special tanks, so you will need specific crews for those specific tanks.

Planning to buy T71DA, JP2 and KV85. Maybe KV13 too, but that's not a priority by any means. I'd buy Jumbo too, but not in top configuration :(

Oh, and if you want to save even more credits (if the update doesnt happen before), then I would suggest waiting to buy the Tier 5 tanks until April with WoT birthday; then we will most likely have tech tree discounts (50% on Tier 5). The others you could wait to buy until the line gets TotT so those will also be 50% discounted, or buy full price the day the update goes live.

and i still dont get it why 725k credit surplus,....tonks prices stay the same or not? this is really getiing kids game , please keep in ming WG that WOT players are in mid 30s and up,... so please please make it  more simple not more complex,....my brain is overheating just calculating what will happen,...  :child:

Oh, and if you want to save even more credits (if the update doesnt happen before), then I would suggest waiting to buy the Tier 5 tanks until April with WoT birthday; then we will most likely have tech tree discounts (50% on Tier 5). The others you could wait to buy until the line gets TotT so those will also be 50% discounted, or buy full price the day the update goes live.

You're welcome!

And great thinking, as a stingy Dutchman I like that :B

I've made this list because I got nothing else to do :';)

Britain V Crusader 380.000 880.000 60.000

Japan IV Type 5 Ke-Ho 140.000 300.000 10.000

Don't know if it will help anybody at all, but I thought lets post it anyway.

Edit: btw, apart from buying some premium vehicles I'm trying to play this game as much f2p as I can handle (i.e. no premium account), so 700k credits is very welcome, guess that won't be true for everyone ;)

Thnx! Not really interested in any tanks but free credits is free credits, might pick up a few!

:honoring:

Hiya tankers!

No, apparently the plan by WG is to increase the credit cost due to the no more xp grind.

1.8 is coming on March the 4th (approx) and the tech tree changes are still in supertest, so it’s too early imo. I think they may come in 1.9, which might be at the end of March or early April. I could be wrong though!

Anyway, I’ve already been grinding through to the removed tanks since the first announcement was made. I already owned the KV-13, and have since unlocked and bought the T21 and T71 DA. I’m currently grinding through the T-54 (lots of fun!) and the BC 12 t (harder to play!). I’m down to under 300k xp required, but have enough BP and Free XP to knock off 200k of that, so I’m almost there!

However, since WG also stated that:  "If these changes go into the main version, these vehicles, including those of Tier VI–X, will be accessible and available for purchase with credits. There’s no need to rush into researching these vehicles as you will be able to buy them at any time after the potential update goes live."

They also never mention that they will be available at the same price

Yeah, and buff the gun handeling / pen accordingly. But these are all part of the new supertest, so curiousbto see what the (initial) numbers are going to be. And I wonder what happens to my T54E1 crew: do they get retrained to HT for free?
