Hey,
i'm pretty new to the game (around 1k battles) and I just rushed the FV4005 grind in like 12 days starting from the tier 5 Archer.
I think you can look at my stats and see that i'm not very good at the vehicle, I do around 1.2k damage usually every game, in case that i don't die instantly to being spotted by an EBR and penetrated by arty for like 1500 in spawn.

Also I know that this tank is meant to be like hard to play and most people call it trash, but the problem for me is really the money... I will literally run out of money if i keep playing this tank and it's the only tank that i like at the moment... But i feel like maybe this is intended and that you are not supposed to keep playing tier 10 tanks and that's the idea behind that design?

I just don't know where to position in this tank, so i die pretty much every single game, which i don't mind since im still learning, but if you die in this tank you are losing 20k every single game and i only have 1 mil at the moment and I keep losing more and more money in this tank... If i do like 3k damage using HE ammo (900 credits per shot i think) I still lose credits if i die, which is obviously really easy in this tank when there is 3 arty and EBR's in the game.
Also i am using a premium account, without the premium account i would lose like 200k credits per day i think

So what's a good place to learn positioning in TD's in general? Is there some good content creator that plays the FV4005 or the 183?
I am pretty new, but I do know how to use bushes for concealment, but the problem for me is that I don't know where to position myself to be effective most games... Maybe i just need more games and experience in the game and the maps in particular... I was thinking about learning the tank on the test server first, but It's not always up...
Or maybe this tank is just too trash for you to be consistently useful in this tank? I appreciate all feedback, suggestions / tips.

It's a meme tank, only played for LOLs when you're fed up of playing anything else and about to quit for the night

You need map awareness to play it well

Fv4005 is still a beauiful tank. Only way yo play it is using HESH ammo, I know It is expensive but if you want yo have fin with that tank you need to waste 50-100k credits per Game.

Try to be always safe with that tank either sniping from the back either holding corners.

Yes, It is a hard tank to play, but if you learn how to, you Will have a blast.

Check Orzanel (YouTube or Twitch) playing FV.

If you like that then start the Russian heavy line and aim for the KV-2.

Same fun but without any of the cost.  Only difference is it's a bit slower but it is also better armoured for it's tier.

Failing that a PzIV, M4, or any one of the low tier derp guns will give you much more pleasure than the poopbarn.

Oh god, why?

You are probably not very good at any vehicle, none of us was when we had 1000 battles
But i feel like maybe this is intended and that you are not supposed to keep playing tier 10 tanks and that's the idea behind that design?
It is not intended to play t10 with so few battles
So what's a good place to learn positioning in TD's in general?
You have to play thousands of battles in all the tiers you have skipped
Maybe i just need more games and experience in the game and the maps in particular
Yes...

A lot of things are hard when you have barely 1000 battles and you want to play now nerfed tier 10 TD with paper armor. OP is being a dummy for rushing so quickly to tier 10. I understand his enthusiasms. I rushed my way to KV2 back when I first started playing the game. But thats tier 6 tank.

You need more experience in the game with different types of tanks to predict their moves properly. Honestly rushing any tier 10 is a bad move for new players, doubly so for tanks that are basically a meme. Get yourself some good tanks with good tech tree potential like is-3, t-44, leo in swedish medium/heavy line... And dont make a priority of getting tier 10 tanks until you have atleast 5k battles under your belt. Rather try getting some good lower tier tanks like t29 or t71, hellcat... you will make money and enjoy the game.

And you will always lose money in tier 10, that is just how it is.

Get a KV2, it's essentially the same thing but at a tier that makes credits easily.

You are correct about tier 10.

It is designed to lose credits on tier 10, so that the lower tiers are still needed to earn credits.

The FV4005 is, when using premium HESH, one of the most expensive tanks to play as well.

Hearing that you only have 1k battles, I can safely say that you have rushed to the high tiers too quickly however.

This just results in not performing well.

I strongly recommend playing lower tiers to learn the maps and all the spots.

It's a mistake many people make, rushing to high tier too fast.

It took me a good 5-7k battles before I got my first tier 10 I believe. And only got like 2-3 when I was on 10k battles.

Only recently after 30k battles I started getting all other tier 10 tanks, and now at 35k I have all of them.

  1. sell or quit playing Fv.

1-1. Grind credit (if you didn't sell Fv).

    2. Buy the T8 of it's line again and start learning with a better MM and cheaper ammo.

     3. Watch CCs and learn positioning.

     4. Never ever rush a line again, because you'll ruin your fun, and ruin people's fun (no offense but you're inexperienced).

Now let's talk about Fvs playstyle. It's a tank that never shows up in close range, never, unless your team is winning and taking 1-2  shoots won't harm to farm damage. Otherwise? It's a long range support.

And you mostly wait for opponents to make a mistake, not you giving them a free damage.

Now I don't think anyone can explain all the positions in one comment, but you need to watch replays from wotreplays.eu best way to learn I believe.

Gl on battlefield. :)

I love how little excuse we need to start yapping and over stuffing a thread. Especially a thread where its obvious that OP left and is not coming back.  :D

I mean, i still read all the stuff people post and appreciate the tips, but i think the main problem for me is just how i'm not allowed to like play the FV4005 and learn it, i got the tier 6 M44 arty and it makes like 20-30k profit every game for me, meanwhile the FV is just insanely unfun for me, only because of how *edited* the economy of the game is, i'm just not allowed to enjoy my tank, because it's too expensive to play, even if i shoot 0 gold out of it, if i die i'm guaranteed to lose tons of credits and If i play too safe i'm just not gonna have any impact and any fun while playing, i guess only people that can enjoy this tank are people who have like 100 mil credits and that really makes me sad.

My dude,

You are allowed to play your tank. You are allowed to enjoy your tank. Your are allowed to make profit, even on tier 10. The only thing you need to do to achieve this is being good at the game, something which you are not at 1000 battles. It takes time to learn this game and you'll need at least 5000 games to actually be able to play well at tier 10, since you then have gathered experience from playing at lower tiers. If one takes a tank that is very hard to play like the FV4005, it takes even more battles to know your place on the battlefield.

You skipped the lower tiers and therefore didn't learn the very basics. After that, you rushed straight to tier 10. You have gathered enough experience to unlock the whole line, but you didn't gather enough experience to be good enough for higher tiers. As harsh as this sounds, you alone are the reason why you cannot perform well in the FV4005.

I would advise you to go back to tier 5 and 6 to grind a line that is more forgiving, like the IS-7 or the 430U. Do not go to the next tier until you got 50% winrate on a tier. It will make your gaming experience a lot more enjoyable.

That being said, the FV4005, when played correctly (HESH :B), doesn't make profit for anyone: even the best players lose credits as the shells are extremely expensive.

  1. you are allowed to play anything
  2. People making threads and then disappearing after it is not that uncommon here but I consider it rude. Still good to see you are reading what we write.
  3. FV4005 is like the worst Tier X tank to use if you dont have strong economy. Its expensive to repair, and its very costly to use gold on it.
  4. As #1 points suggests. You can play anything. But you are not having fun if you dont learn the basics first. Trust us
  5. If you wanted a hard hitting tank might have been better to go down the JGPZ line. It has armor and its at least cheaper to run from my experience.

Real life FV (there is one at Bov) would have been massively faster, with a much quicker reload. Whereas an EBR can be given 3x its actual horsepower, for gaming "reasons", the FV is British and must suffer. I still play mine, but it really is bad.
