Hi,

My name is littlelegend and I have been playing WOT for almost 8 years now.

Being a proud Dutchman I would love to see a Dutch map being added to the game. :great:

I think the Dutch landscape and history could make for an interesting addition to the game.

These elements could help making a typical Dutch countryside map:

  • Flat: The Netherlands is quite flat...
  • Water: We have always battled this element. You can see this in the form of dykes, windmills, bridges and canals.
  • Mound: We have villages build on man made hills protecting them from floods. We call a hill like this a ''terp''.
  • Small Villages: The Dutch countryside has a lot of small villages. Characteristic is the church that always stand in the centre of the village.
  • Woods: Small strips of forest on the landscape.
  • Wealthy farmers: Especially the northern part of the Netherlands knew a lot of wealthy farmers with big farms and a lot of land.
  • Hunebed: These mysterious stone structures date back from 4000-3000 B.C.
  • Tullip fields: These could really give a lot of character to the map.

Feel free to add some ideas and historical information. Together we can make this work!

Doing it WG style: Take malinovka, flatten the hill, add a few extra windmills and some colored flowers.  DONE

Fun is not a flat surface. Also get in line because I want my goddamn Swedish map first. Why do Norway have two? They don't even have any tanks.

They're still trying to figure out the Ikea instructions to put the map together

Whilst I get your enthusiasm for a map from your country, but on reading your little description there, you know with WG's map design they will do -

  • a 'terp' either end of the map with windmills on it and bushes for TDs to camp in base.
  • a giant tulip field inbetween these 'terps' which will be a giant open death zone, that WG will call the 'medium zone'.
  • They might stick a village in the middle of the tulip field as 'cover' so you can get stuck in the deathzone.
  • They'll waste 1/3rd of the available space on the map with water.
  • And finally they'll put a dried up canal running down one side of the map for heavies to fight in a protected corridor.

Bish, bash, bosh and you have your 'dutch' style map.

Dutchman here as well. I've also thought about a Dutch map, but as you said, our country is completely flat and the last thing WoT needs is more flat maps.

Edit: I actually think that a city map themed as Amsterdam would be nice. Too bad this game doesn't need more city maps either.

One good map could be situated in the landscape of the Overloon area is this was the site of one of the larger tank battles in WWII (https://en.wikipedia...tle_of_Overloon) which took place from september-oktober 1944 in the aftermath of operation Market Garden.

Another good setting could be Zeeuws-Vlaanderen where the Canadians fought very hard to control that part of the Schelde river, so the allies could use the port of Antwerp later on.. One of the largest mistakes of Montgomery in fact was to go for Arnhem instead of securing access to Antwerp earlier.

Maps don't sell, so don't hold your breath on this one.

Now that's an idea, why don't WG make maps on which you can only play for gold :P Then I'm sure we'll have truckloads of maps...

I have a distant Dutch ancestor, so approve of this... how about a submarine map, set beneath the Zuider Zee?

You know your history. I am from the region of Zeeuw Vlaanderen and there was heavy fighting here. But not good for a map. Its way to flat, divided in squares seperated by dikes.

I would choose for a city map. And then of course Arnhem, a bridge too far

try the Utrechtse heuvelrug, or the piramide van Austerlitz, those areas are not so flat, lots of bushes and hilly terrain or the mergel groeve by Maastricht.. or the Holterberg

You missed out the thousands of indestructible bicycles all over the map.

And all those shops with ladies modelling underwear.

And a windmill. Just copy the one on Malinovka.

We have more style points for architecture. I mean, even Frozen came to study us vs you lot when they made it.

Joking aside, no we don't make any tanks. We are more on the missile and weapon tech side of things. Thus the only thing we have made with tracks and wheels, or a propeller on it, are mobile air defense systems that the US are using too. Or the PD-100 that the US special forces started to use.

As for tanks, we just modify the stuff we get instead to make an "on steroids" version of it. Inc the Landsverk L-120, Chaffee, M116 and the M270.

Siegfried line is fairly close to what we'd get?  Maybe a water feature added to the north to give both sets of arty drowning potential.
