So I am a "new" player and have only about 1000 battles. Played several artillery but only low tier and didn't like any of them. I know I am crapat this game and in arty I am [edited]terrible but one thing really bothers me: I aim fully in, shoot at an not moving target and still miss 2/3 shots. Just how? I reload like 15 seconds, aim in for 10 seconds and then it still misses just because of rng. And when I hit, it does either really low splash dmg (like 40 maybe) or doesn't pen and does 0 dmg. Only very rarely i hit for 200+. But when I play tier 6 or tier 7, I get absolutely annihilated by arty. Not talking about heavies but about medium tanks like my cromwell or t-34-85. Even when i go like 55kmph in the cromwell, enemy arty still manages to shoot really fast (like as soon as they reaload), so that does mean they don't aim fully in, hit like 2/3 shots and do "high" dmg around 200 every hit. Does that make sense?? It is not every few matches when I have good enemies as arty, but every time. How can you hit me at 60kmph with nearly every shot, every 10 seconds and do high dmg while I can't hit an standing enemy even when I aim fully in. Did I choose the wrong artillery lines?

Can you recommend me any good arty (high accuracy)?

I think I might be retarded since I just don't get if my enemies just have luck all the time or if i overlooked something.

Arty is crapbefore tier 5, after that its a lot of fun, since .you dont need to hit to do at least some damage/stun.

A good crew is key here. Without 100% crew and preferably 2 to 3 crew skills, you simply are at a disadvantage.

Risky asking a question like that on the Forums ;)

Best arty line id say is the US, i loved that grind followed by the British however i would also suggest learning to play other tanks like Mediums and Heavies because Arty i would not say is the best start to the game as later on, it will form bad habits when it comes to playing other tanks as well as not really learning that much in just Arty, you need to be involved more if serious about getting better but if not than its cool, each to their own but felt like giving it a mention anyway :)

Either go for the british arty line or the american one. American tier 6 and tier 9 arty are very good.

Dont go for the french ones

German ones are also ok.

Here is a good arty streamer you can watch https://www.twitch.tv/doctor_nix

Use the free Tier 6 you get from completing Boot Camp to get the M44 without messing with the lower tiers - it's all you'll need for the first set of arty missions and lets you grind the M53/55 which is all you'll need all the way to the Obj 260 missions.

Are you by any chance using the alternative 3D view to shoot, the one you change to and out of with G key. I've noticed I miss a lot with that.

I don't know if it helps but Doctor_Nix streams his arty playing on Twitch and he is one of the best arty players in EU afaik.

Use the Server Reticle for arty - you'll be surprised how far the server lags behind the client.  You think you're fully aimed but server doesn't.

Use the mod:  https://awfultanker.torvox.eu/servermarker.html for the best of both worlds.

Sometimes it is all about adjusting slightly.

For instance, if you are fully aimed on the tank and your shot flies over the top of it, aim your next shot just in front. Sometimes you may need to aim just behind it. Judging this will come with practice.

One important thing is to make sure that while you are playing your arty, you make a note of spots on the map where you cannot hit an enemy, and remember them for when you play "normal" tanks.

Also, remember you have tracks and an engine. Don't be afraid to relocate. This stops you being countered by enemy arty but also a new position might allow you to hit spots you couldn't before.

And watch your minimap like a hawk. If your team is winning one flank but losing the other, don't stay still waiting for the inevitable, but move towards the flank your team is winning. Not only will you live a bit longer, but you can support the winning flank and cover your base or losing flank.

If you want to play arty like a pro - make sure you have a quick route to the water.  A cliff will suffice if no water is available.

Looking at the SPGs you played so far you haven't quite chosen any line yet (and you have yet to get any SPG with the stun mechanics). Your furthest advance is the tierIV Birch Gun which has a rather weak gun, so no wonder you do hits with zero damage. And while the Bishop and FV304 can be very fun for the experienced clicker getting used to their peculiar playstyle might take a while for a newcomer. And for doing the personal missions they're no good since those don't have the stun mechanics (British SPGs only get it from tierVII upward).

Well, given that you predominantly play Russian vehicles and you got the SU-26 I'd say you continue with that line. Its successor, the SU-5 can get a 152mm mortar, and with that you get the stun mechanic (albeit very unreliable) and the according big splash radius (which is the more important bit at the low tiers since it is more than triple the radius of the non-stunning guns) and that will make a difference.

Though to have a reliable stun you gonna have to advance to tierV or VI at least but while grinding through the arty missions that's gonna happen anyways.

I'm playing US arty line and I really enjoy it, I'm recommending it to you.

As the other users told, the good artas begin like from T5-T6

- make sure your crew is 100% with 3+skills

- don't play crap SPGs/lines

- learn about your vehicle's vertical arcs and shell velocity

- lead your shots

- choose your targets wisely

- equip your arty with GLD, rammer and vents when possible

- use food in high tier ones

- don't shoot/stun your teammates

- read the minimap!

You only have tier 2-3-4 arty. Sell them all, they are all crap. Freexp to tier 5 german, or tier 6 american and go from here.

- get 100% crew asap : this is biggest factor

equip your arty with GLD, rammer and vents when possible

- crew skills are NOT big impact  IMO, get BiA and after 6th sense

( if your team fails stoping lighs you are dead anyway )

- play all vehicles class to undersand battle flow, positions and heat map

- blind a lot, some spots are always taken

- time shots when enemy push in critical areas

- use tier 6 -up to  tier 8 atrys only : they are insanely strong and you will not see 6x EBR 105  battles

- difference in power t8 arty and t10 is MINIMAL
