Randoms are just boring camp fest. I quit the game because of them before.

However last year I found out about Frontline and came back.

It was a blast. Finally a dynamic gameplay, where you do not get shot once you press W by 3-4 base camping people.

Even if you do, you know where they are now and you pretty much go and kill them after a respawn.

7vs7 event was a blast as well. Super dynamic and quick, where you can actually show some skill, play as a team and people indeed tried to work together.

Grand Battles seem okay as well. Sure there are places where you get pointed by 10 guns at once, once you press W, but there is a room for movement, flanking and etc.

However the God damn random battles are just horrible... when are we going to have some alternatives to the randoms?

I don't like frontline either. Feels very static, because there are too few maps, all positions are well known. When you don't know the right spots yet, you get powned immediately.

Also air strike & playing for ranks instead of the win I don't like.

Fully agree randoms are getting worse and worse... 7x7 was nice. Grand battles is nice  I enjoyed steel hunter and some of the PvE modes.

That is the think. There are less positions and more fighting on the move. Sure cap spots get cramped often and stuck. But once unstuck the battle starts flowing.

I agree Air Strike is annoying and needs either rework, but that is a very effective way to prevent camping. However airstrike at cap spots and air strike spam at it sucks.

Randoms are just camp a spot and hope your team also does fine. I cant play a random longer than 5 mins. It is just boring as hell and I would go try do a move to fail 99 % of the time or have an epic game 1 % of the time. Maps are horrible. There are way too many coridors and way too strong spots. If the battles were 7v7 on them they are fine. But for 15 vs 15... it becomes just a horrible and boring camp fest.

It is to be expected for a game that pushes 10 years of existence plus, isnt it?

Actually because there's no other options to use, or either there are but only for the worse MM (T10). :D

But anyway that's not my case.

Yes randoms are becoming really bad and boring, but well, it still the only existing way to have some fun.

FL was a good idea because you play with only T8s and you have a plenty of space to move in.

Team clash also was fun, I've could feel the real joy in T10 MM for the first time! :D

And people were playing like a team for real, it was a great experience.  :)

For a 10 year old game. I would be amazed if it went up tbh. Then again, randoms are randoms. It's what 90% will play regardless. Even when FL comes. FL is fun, but it's short fun as it lacks one key aspect. Variation. And since the milage will wary depending on who you ask. I'm willing to bet that if FL and 7vs7 was up 24/7 all month long along with Randoms. It would only be a matter of time before most were back in randoms again, and the modes died out as people got burnt out on it playing the same 2 maps over and over and over again.

New modes are always fun. But to keep it fresh you need something new all the time. Or else, everything besides random will end up the same way. On the decline after a bit. As we have seen with every single mode in this game over the years that have been removed due to low population

It's why so many did survive FL for a full year. It came in bursts. And tbh, with only 1 map for most of it. You can only have that much fun after a bit attacking the same spot vs the same tanks using the same tactics for the 99th time. They would need at least 6 maps to keep most interested long term for that mode. With 2 maps. I'll take the short bursts tbh.

So who do we believe ? the people who say Randoms are a campfest ? or the people who say Randoms are all 4 minute long one-sided walkovers... can't both be right, can they ?

Well, over a few battles both could be true.

Like, we have 2 different battles, either campfests or 4 minute 1-sided walkovers and extremely little in between.

have to disagree about 7x7 and grand battles but I do like frontline with a proviso

7x7 I tried and quickly abandoned, probably because it was just an encounter style mode. I found it boring

Grand Battles I have also given up on because as usual WG looked at what we were asking for (bigger maps) and gave us the middle finger.  Sure maps a bit bigger but they double the number of players so ruining the entire point of it.

Frontline I have really enjoyed, much bigger maps and by making each area 10 vs 10 its a double bonus.  Of course WG got a third party developer to do this for them so that's probably why its been a success, and in typical WG fashion they have largely turned the mode into a grind by adding reward tanks requiring you to play the same map for hour after hour.  However, a few more maps and this mode is a real success overall.

BUT

no mode will ever take over from 15v15 randoms, its still the mode I play the most although I would play ranked a lot more if it was available

It depends on what people play.

If you camp in a TD in redline or play arty, every game is a campfest.

If you try to win games and get rekt by arty, it's a 4 minute walkover.

Strange. I was bored of Frontline after 1 day, and never play it now.

Frontline is a brilliant concept and can be used for tier 8 and above (mix tier 8 and 9, mix tier 9 and 10), leaving tier 7 and below for random battles.

IMHO 15v15 is fine, but it needs some quality of life improvements such as larger maps (like, at least twice as big as the current ones) and a hard cap for TDs (e.g. 4 per team maximum, regardless of tier).

Of course this is all wishful thinking, WG will never accept that they need to take out the duster and do some cleaning.

randoms are fine, I have the feeling the idea of dynamic gameplay the op wants is a brawl fest with tanks running around and snapshotting, I prefer some more tactical gameplay.

played enough counterstrike when I was younger.
