I remember that last time we had FL, WG kept giving players these FL XP boosters. Do they work now?

And if they do, why doesn't WG let us have them again?

I'm a new player, besides having to play subpar tech tree tanks, I also have to put in twice the time just because WG isn't letting new players have boosters. How is this fair?

They removed them at the end of last season. If you had bought them with gold, you got compensated for them. Otherwise they simply just removed them. Anyways, this FL season has pretty much half of the requirements for 1 ''prestige''/stage compared to last year. So it's kinda like you're playing with boosters on the whole time.

And why not have them this time? Because the progress is already extremely fast, fastest it has been in any FL season.

I am half way rank 14 in just 1 day and the point requirements are currently displayed incorrectly meaning that they are actually lower than what are shown right now.

C'mon man, the requirements are not lower. Today I got 2 Generals and I didn't even make it to rank 5.

In the last FL mode you easily get to stage 5 or 6 (maybe even 7, I don't remember the exact stage) with just 1 General.

Well, they were given out last year as people complained the grind was too long each week. And it was 30500 points per week to get to max rank in the 10 months. Now, it's 4 ranks for FL, not 10. And each one is shorter. So it's still less time vs last year with the boosters even.

And considering your 3 tier 8 premiums, and the one "subpar" Pantera 44. I suspect you will do fine regardless vs last year.

That's because the points have been set up wrong, there's a patch in the morning that will correct it so you are further along than you think.

Have you not noticed that there are half the levels of the last years season. Last year you would have been level 5 or 6 out of 30. Now you are 5 out of 15, and now you also get double the combat reserve tokens for levels.

You are also comparing last year with boosters to this year. With 1 general you would have gotten level 3 in last years actually. You would have gotten more of course if you used a booster.

Boosters are really not needed this year. You should still have to put in a decent effort to get free tanks but compared to last years grind it's a breeze.

2020 FL

Rank 15 15,800 points x 4 = 63,200

2019 FL

Rank 30 30,500 points x 10 = 305,000

That's my take on it anyway. Sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong :)

edit:

PS a 1st battle general would have taken you 200 points (halfway) towards Rank 5 ((2)300+(3)350+(4)350+(5)200 remaining out of 400 needed)

This year it's halfway to Rank 4 ((2)400+(3)500+(4)300 remaining out of 600 needed)

why would you need any boosters if you can finish all 15 stages in one day?

points for each level are not correct atm, when they get adjusted with micopatch tomorrow - you will get lvl 15 if you have hit 12th by now.

They don't have to give out more, but they shouldn't have removed them just like that, either.

So, what you are saying is that WG should tell you they are going to do one thing and then do something completely different?

I am sure nobody would ever complain about that. :sceptic:

It's a consumable that wasn't consumed.

I chose not to, while others used them all up.

Removing them should come with something, it makes sense because they were the sole reward of the missions they were given at, so basically missions were completed, rewards given and rewards removed. Makes sense?

And the bit about them being removed in the first place, I don't remember reading about that when they were added, but I might have missed it if the forum was the only medium where that information was posted.

Well, they only added them as a stop-gap measure to help with the massive requirements last year. As they fixed the underlying problem there is no reason for the boosters to exist anymore. Even if it wasn't explicitly stated back then it was to be expected that WG would remove them after the season, precisely so people wouldn't hoard them.

Wait, so it's ok to give handouts to those that basically gave up on the whole thing because it was boring AF and there was only one map, but if someone goes through with it and does it without using the reserves that were added in the last 3 months and saves them, it's called hoarding?

Wow.

From a news article on the website from 8th of November 2019:

Compensation for Personal Reserves for Frontline

If you still have Personal Reserves at the end of the 2019 Season, we’ll compensate you the full cost of those purchased for gold. Compensation will happen automatically after your logging in to the client starting from December 12, 2019 (02:05 UTC), and will be available till February 12, 2020 (01:00 UTC).

For example, if you have 10 Reserves left, and 5 of them were purchased for gold, then we will refund the full cost of 5 Reserves at the end of the Season. All unused free Reserves will disappear.

If you have both purchased and free Reserves in your vault, and you used both of them during the Season, then we consider that you have spent the free ones first. For example, if you had five purchased and five free Reserves, and you spent five of them, then we will assume that you only used the free ones. So we'll refund the full cost of five Reserves.

I see you have found some news items already but I'll add this one too.
