Hi,

I know that you need these expected values https://modxvm.com/en/wn8-expected-values/ to calculate WN8 values.

How do these expected values come about? What are they? How are the expected values calculated?

Thanks for your help!

Greetings

Why? As long as one does not blindly follows XVM it is just a tool to see how well one does in WoT. Is something wrong with that?

WN8 expected values are averages of how well players in a specific tank have performed in a certain time period. They are used to calculate your WN8 for a certain battle in the formula you can find here:

I'm not using XVM, I'm playing without any in-battle mods. I'm just using some mods for garage. Also I'm not following XVM blindly, that's the reason why I'm here trying to find out how XVM is working. And I think every team has a chance to win, doesn't matter if it is less likely. The thing that reduces your chance is saying "oh we won't win anyways".

Thanks for the answer. That's the kind of explanation I'm looking for. The point is, expected values being average values would be the obvious solution but it doesn't fit. I've checked that using the following tables:

Both of these tables show global expected values. If you change from EU to NA/RU/Asia on wotlabs.net the table doesn't change. So it looks like the values are global. The XVM website doesn't make any statement whether the values are global or regional which means they are probably global as well. Also considering that XVM might get these values from their mod users it's unlikely that they differentiate between mod users in different countries.

Comparing the values from both sites they are very similar. Tiny deviations are most likely down to the update date. The XVM website is updated daily, the values on wotlabs.net are one week old at the moment. I'd say wotlabs.net gets the values from XVM.

   NA Server Tank Statistics: https://wotlabs.net/na/tankStats
   RU Server Tank Statistics: https://wotlabs.net/ru/tankStats
   SEA Server Tank Statistics: https://wotlabs.net/sea/tankStats

These values are described as actual average values. They are different from the expected values. They are updated daily, so you can compare them to the modxvm.com values pretty exactly. They are regional in this case so it is not possible to calculate the global average values. But still you can check if the values match. I've checked the DMG of leFH for all regions. I don't know whats the avarage values but I know it's between the highest and the lowest value from those regions. An all of these values where way lower than the expected value on the modxvm.com website. This means expected values are not the same as average values.

TLDR: Expected values are not the same as average values, proof is above (premised that these websites are not giving wrong information).

Anyone saying ignore XVM doens't know how it was developed. To make it short, damage and winrate go hand-in-hand up until about 62-63% winrate. What this mean is those with low WN8, aka low damage, have usually low winrate. Take a look at anyone with 25k battles and 500 WN8, with top tier tanks that player have 42% winrate and 0.0% damage compared to the average damage. No idea why WG won't ban these for not playing, I mean how are you not AFK if you shoot once every 3 battles? Also how stupid does one have to be not to learn even the basics and to want to join a team and not do anything. Humans learn, animals can learn, even plants react but someone with 46% WR doesn't learn or react. Kinda offtopic but enjoy the rant.

I have xvm running I rather like a coloured player panel and yes I suppose the ratings it gives players may influence me a little.

Don't really take them seriously though I do note the apparent ability of players on the enemy team as in they seem to have a pretty skilled light tank player this might be a problem.

Mostly I want to panel to show clearly what the tier class and type of tanks both teams have, I want to do that instantly not go by names of vehicles.

Then I can spend the other 28 seconds before the game starts planning my rout.

XVM does that so Ill stick with it.
