The SWE HT in the works has gun handling very much like old, proper Light Tanks used to...

As in, they could hit time and time again but with very meager penetration (which they should as they are LTs). But now it seems like the opposite?

HTs have better accuracy and aim time than LTs, which have potato launchers. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

What's your opinion on the subject?

IMO -

Bigger alpha guns = lower DPM, worse accuracy/aim times

Lower alpha guns = higher DPM, higher accuracy, better aim times.

Soft stats dependent on role/armour, paper tanks should have better soft stats because they can't afford to aim for long, more armoured tanks should have worse soft stats.

Penetrations pretty much what we have.

Lights having meh DPM and bad accuracy, to go with low alpha and low pen makes zero sense, they should have higher DPM because they have no armour and low HP, and they should have very good accuracy because their attributes (view range, camo, mobility, paper armour, low hit points) mean they should be played at medium to long ranges.

The fact that an IS-7 is a better sniper than most tier 10 lights is entirely dumb and bad design by WG, as is the fact an E100 for example has over 2.3k DPM for a 750 alpha gun and 2700 HP, but the Rhm. Panzer has 2.1k DPM with a 320 alpha gun and 1600 hit points.

Basically higher tier lights need WAY better accuracy and DPM imo, a tier 10 light should have 50% more DPM with such low alpha and pen than tier 10 heavies have, and much better accuracy, if you are going to have low alph and low pen, when you get the chance to shoot sides and rears of people in the open, they should shred those people quickly, not take like 1.5 minutes to a kill a Maus (and loads of shots will bounce/miss anyway).  If a light tank outpositions a heavy and catches it out in the open in the side/rear, that heavy should be in real trouble.  Currently that is not the case and many super heavies are under far more threat from a tier 9 med outpositioning them than a tier 10 light, which is just silly.

Bad pen and low alpha guns should have very high DPM and good accuracy, so the likes of the Rhm. IMO should have over 3k DPM at least.

Lights are bad and have been bad since the start. they make no sence being in a game about damage/pen being at the core. but lights get nothing. not even HP. Wheelies are the new real light tanks. light are just piss poor mediums at best in every tier.

Lights need a seriouse rework, not just a few digits changed. i mean a mechanical change to make them not total garbage.

Lights are bad so Steve the IS-driver doesn't get rekt by things he can neither see nor understand. Nothing will change as long as tomatoes drive through the open in HTs and cry on the forums because they get shot all the time.

It's funny WG added EBR 105 and then later Manticore. Like not funny as in "ha ha" but funny as in "WG funny".

And now WG refuses to even add more ammo to Manticore, because they are probably "gathering data".

Maybe LTs are bad, I don't delve into the numbers all that much, but they are sailing up to be the class with which I win the most...

Let us not forget that light tanks have the highest penetration dropoff any any tank class in the game, especially in high tiers.

But as many mentioned here, they were deemed too powerful after some "testing", and now we have this.

You mean like "fixed" in the same way you might get a cat "fixed"? :-)

That was a sad day, a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
