Compared to the mx40 this tank is amazing.

Compared to every other tier 5 tank it's pretty awful.
If the gun had at least some depression and you could carry more than 30 of those incredibly weak ammos then it would be better.
Now it feels like su-5 with so little ammo aka NO FUN ALLOWED.

The 6 shells combined hit about 50 percent harder than a single 107 shell from the KV and they take as long to fire as it takes to fire 2 KV shells.
Only kv isn't left crippled for 20sec after that and can aim his gun up and down and has enough ammo to kill the entire enemy team... twice.

A stock KV outclimbs it btw...

First few battles with that tank were terrible although after SLOWMX 40 it was a pleasure to drive it. Now I think I'm beggining to adjust. You just need a completely new way of fighting with this tank. For me it's neither a Light Tank nor a Medium. I treat AMX 12t like a highly mobile TD. Stay back drive around and look for opponents occupied fighting other tanks. If You see an opportunity , go and try to kill the arty.

Sorry for my english.

A few observations:

- Too slow to scout. U wont be in position in time, anything can hit u
- Cammo values seem to be meh > you'll get spotted when u spot. U die.
- Any hit will take out your engine > instant death
- Not very maneuverable > can't circle strafe most tanks
- Does not carry enough ammo > Top gun is nearly impossible in this tank. U really have to conserve ammo
- Gun lacks useful penetration. Seems to lose  a hell of a lot of pen at longer distances > you need to be close, but u'll die before u get there
- gun is very inaccurate when stationairy (so u cant sit back and snipe) > U have to be close. u'll be dead first
- Gun is incredibly inaccurate on the move + Aim time = ages. This means that you have to get close, you will be shot before u get close.
- Inaccurate gun + pen: You WILL miss/bounce a few shots and then your mag will be empty. You are dead
- No gun depression or lift at all. Means that mainly on maps like El Halluf and Westfdield you just dont stand a chance. Any other map is pretty much the same.
- No armor at all, anything will pen. You're spotted, you're dead.
- The Matchmaking will put you in battles where there is absolutely no tank you can reliably penetrate. You will die without a single kill and likely without any decent XP.

Short summary: Nice try, but it just isn't good enough.

I earn way more free XP driving my T25AT than I earn Free + commited XP driving the AMX....

This tank seems to be similar to the T82 : fast hit and run TD/scout/medium.
Most of the time get it get a bottom of the list MM.

For me, the current MM rating is fine. Even in T10 battles you can do something usefull for the team. If WG would lower the MM value of the AMX 12t to, let´s assume T7 max, then the tank would be OP. I liked the grind with the AMX 12t, perhaps I was simply lucky and had not too many T10 battles, don´t know.

In my opinion, the T5 french heavy is the one that needs and MM value adjustment immediately.

I voted tier 7 thinking it would be in the very bottom. These current high tier games really isn't fun at all :/

First of all AMX 12t is for me something like tutorial before playing the real deal french lights - AMX 13 75 and 90. It, as I understand, should be a platform to learn the playstyle of these tanks and the mechanics of the revolver gun. And because of that it should be tiered lower than it currently is - to do not discourage players that want something new in WoT world. So it should be tiered T7 max. Also the gun elevation should be better.

I think this thing is awesome. The best French tank I've played so far (although AMX 40 was fun in low tier battles with the number of dings you got). Am up to Tier IV on both lines now, and this plays so much better than the BDR.

As has been mentioned this isn't really a light, but a highly mobile TD. It is great in support, but should never go alone because A ) it has no armour and B ) its cartridge reload takes forever, although not as long as I was expecting.

I really hope the '75 has better depression/[op]pression[?] though, as it is pretty annoying have to perfectly angle your tank on a slope in order to hit anything that isn't on the same plane as your hull.

Also this thing looks so cool! It is amazing to think that this design was in the immidiate aftermath of the second world war, it is so modern! I also love the post-war French doctrine of 'whats the point in putting armour on it when they just have to pile more explosives in?'. I went to an interview with the Royal Engineers and they were saying that all that is needed to counter heavy vehicle use by IEDs is just packing more explosives into them, and that is a similar line to which the French used in this tank. If it doesn't get hit its fine!

That was before people invented ultra accurate cannons and stabilization systems.

Altrough the french doctrine of being able to shoot as many shots as possible in initial minutes of combat is still being used:

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!

Ok, jokes aside I do think this is a very fun tank, but it gets screwed over massively in matchmaking.
It's clearly a support tank, not a scout.

To use it as a scout is a MASSIVE waste and I'd send pretty much any other T5 medium/light to scout FOR AMX 12t any day, rather than other way around.

Such fun when MM puts it with tier 7 tops.  The tank is a fast flanker designed to get behind something and then do some significant damage, so if I get up the rear end of a tiger fighting one of our heavies makes all the diffence when I knock 600hp off it.  However when everything is tier 8/9 it can't do that - lots of shots bounce and even if a couple get through then 200hp damage barely matters.  Also far to likely to get 1 shotted by some monster gun.

you CANT scout. view range is only 420m and radio... 410m. So even if it's a little bug with decent mobility (it cant turn without bleeding so much speed) you cant go in frotn of your allies and scout cause you cant see anything before be spotted (it seems its camo value is same as the Tiger) and even if you spot something, you CANT share it to buddies.
French light ARE NOT light but meds without armor. Wargaming is just plain wrong

Yeah, I'm really questioning either french tank design or WG tank design - or both. I don't think the gun can point more the 15 degrees upward...if that.

I'm not quite sure what to do with this little guy. But he needs 'special' match making.  He doesn't have ANY of the abilities that make a good scout.

I've just been finding a good bush in a soon to be busy area and wait for a tier 4 to drive by....

i voted for T8 and lower because in T9 games, i can't even penetrate the back of an IS4 or E-75 (i do really put my AMX 12t in their 6 o'clock and did nothing !!)
but for me it is one of the most interesting and fun tank to play (despite his horrible gun elevation, but you can always manage to be in the same level as your opponent)
fast and agile with a good gun (and almost the ability to be in the 6' of anything), but quite fragile (1 or 2 shot and you're out)

i destroyed a ferdinand all by myself, quite fun. But i had lots of battle to learn how to play it, and lots of defeats to finally understand how to use it properly :)

The engine is such a joke in this vehivle. 15 games, 5 times engine destroyed. As far as I can remember I got, maybe 5 times the engine destroyed in my other 8500 games that I've made...

After fully upgrading mine it's ok tank. I got some 1k exp battles.

But first gun needs serious buff to at least 85-90 mm penetration. 75 is sad joke and will bounce even from most of rear armors in heavy tanks.
