So I just shot a Pantera 44's side with PTA's 278mm penetration standard APCR. And I did not penetrate.

At first I thought I just missed the hull and hit the lower parts of the tracks, but I checked on Battle Hits and it was a flush shot on the side.

Opened tanks.gg and realized there is a part of the side where its always 100% absorb - no matter what gun, no matter what angle. Shows same amount of armor and angle for the pixel next to it but difference is 100% penetration vs. 100% absorb. The hull is clearly visible behind the spot.

Here is a video https://www.youtube....h?v=Kzd0Btm9z54 , is this a bug/missing spot on the hitbox or am I missing some git guddering?

Wargaming, pls fix.

so far im aware the client side can lag behind what server is registering where the shot actually goes to, for you it could show as a flush sideshot (which battlehit mod takes data from, your client view) while the actual hit could be slight below, under the hull into tracks alone. just takes a little lag, which isnt too uncommon with current loads on server due to everyone playing as bored from quarantine

but could be some other issue as you pointed out of a absorb part in hitbox which is odd

ok, that video shows nothing, a replay can help storting things you show us a video showing armor layout.

APCR has less normalisation then AP so going to guess here, the angle was to steep for APCR and it auto bounced

Did you not watched the video or did you not understand what was OP's point? As you can see, and can go to Tanks.gg yourself to check, there is parts on Pantera's hull that will absorb all damage. I first thought that there isn't actually hull behind that point but no, Pantera has total box hull. Then I thought it's the sprocket that eats the damage, but it's only around that sprocket. But it's like that on both sides. I wonder if there is something inside the model that could absorb the damage?

I would be a little bit wary of taking tanks.gg as gospel, they've had trouble reading the hitbox data since 1.0

Armor on tanks.gg isn't always correct but it seems like something that should be investigated further.

Nice find and decent vid to support your claim. Seems strange indeed. It could indeed be tanks.gg at fault, especially on relatively new models, but still.

Off to a training room and test it :)

I think i know what that is.

When the Italians were melting the alloy someone (probably a drunk worker) threw a Russian steel bolt in the mix for fun.

When the cast of the hull cooled down that metal from the Russian bolt ended up in that spot hence there is a tiny portion that is literally unpenetratable Stalinium.

It was an accident and there is nothing we can do about it.

Using tank.gg as a reliable source is not always ideal. As they have a few bugged models. And battle hits uses delayed client info vs what the server did say happen. So not always 100% either in terms of exact location if he was moving.

Best thing either way is to find someone you know with the tank, go to a training room and hit the same area with your Leo PT A and see if you can replicate it in that area or not.

Usually, people think they hit the SIDE of the tan  but in reality they hit only the TRACK but missed the body of the tank.

I suggest you to use the "Battle Hits Viewer" mod.

After the battle, when you are in your garage, you can review all the shot. This mod shows exactly where the shot went, what part of the enemy tanks the shots hit.

Example:

Those sneaky Italians must have hidden rubber tires to absorb imcomming rounds ;)
