Both are pretty much obsolete nowadays. I personally have both tanks, and I never play them. They just do not quite fit in the current meta. Patriot is too low on alpha, and Liberté is too weak in the sides and have somewhat impaired mobility. I would just keep them for now, really, but if having to choose between those two tanks I'd go with the Patriot. Play it like a slow medium.

(I have used all of my bonds, so far, on improved equipment for my fav tanks)

Better go for the Tier 10s.

Because 8s you can get for gold, too.

Save up for the tier 10s... The others aren't really worth it

I have both Liberte and Patriot, I like them but they are not very enjoyable. They are very slow. I also have Mutz. It's just average at best.

I myself want to buy Guard. At least, it packs a huge 122-millimeter punch.

If you want a hull-down tank, go for Patriot.

If you want a corner holder. hull-down hybrid, go for Liberte.

If you want ridge line sniping, go for Mutz.

If you want a peek-a-boom style, go for Gaurd.

By the way, Patriot and Mutz have extremely cheap shells with great pen, if you wanna make credits, I'd go for Patriot or Mutz (Patriot is better since it has some armor.)

Patriot is the best all round tank and credit earner.

LOL and here's me stuck with an FCM 50t that I want to ace but can't bear to play!

Patriot is still worthwhile IMO, as a fat medium (I have the vanilla version); be mindful though that her crew layout differs from the regular US Heavies, so it's not a 100% match as a crew trainer.

I've found it to be a decent tank for Frontline too, for the initial phase at least, just because of the versatility - works reasonably well for either attack or defence...

Patriot is great in my opinion, one of the best (if not the best) hull-down tier 8 tanks. It doesn't play like a regular heavy due to its low alpha dmg, in other words it doesn't trade well. But you can perma-track enemies thanks to the reload.

Keep in mind that the tier 8 MM was improved couple of months ago, so most of the tier 8-9 tanks you meet cannot pen your cupola weakspot, let alone poor Cromwells and Tiger Pees.

Wow, I didn´t realize the American heavies had such a strange crew setup. I used to play the Patriot alongside US heavies on PS4 where the premiums trained the commander for all the skills so it didn´t matter. This makes the Patriot a less than ideal crew trainer on the PC, unless the crew books have become the way to go.

Improved equipment it's OP for op tanks, I will never spend bounds on bond shop.

I was thinking about buying one of them too, considering Frontline is coming soon and I need an extra tier 8 (I only have 4); the Mutz is basically a Pz 58 skin and I already have the SchwarzPz 48 I got from the Black Market, so I don't need the same tank two times (WARNING: for some reason, the Schwarz Pz 58 and Pz 58 have the same stats, but the Mutz  has lower RoF, pen and longer reload time in comparison to the two, even though they are the same tank with different skins!).

Aside from Frontline reason, in my opinion the tier X are the only tanks worth to buy for bonds: I compared them to the tech tree ones and they have better stats.

I agree, putting improved equiptment on your favorite tanks is a much  better idea than blowing all those bonds on weak tanks

I love my improved equipment. Got Vstab on EVEN, 13 105 and Bourasque, vents on EVEN, rammer (captured) on UDES 14 5 and GLD (captured) on Kranvagn.

Do not feel I am missing out not having bought any tier X tanks. YMMV.
