What is the age rating on these easy-to-build tanks?

I like this, I wanted to order me some. However, the shipping costs kill it. €15 to NL, where is Italeri based, on the moon?

--edit-- it is actually available in the wargamingstore at 20% discount instead of 15% at Italeri, and at considerably less shipping. Weird that.

On the website the age rating for the easy-to-build tanks is 8+. But you're never old for these kind of stuff! :teethhappy:

There's a much more advanced version with glue and paints.

Yeah I guess they're using UPS for shipping but it's maybe the right time to save a couple of € off!

Maybe we'll discover a new hobby in this quarantine.

Considering WoT, there are no legendary german tanks, only russians.

Its interesting that to sell these Italeri tanks WG calls them legends...

I have the Pz IV Ausf H (Skirt) from both Zvezda and Italeri. So same tank, different makers.

  • Zvezda wins hands-down at details. The model has over 530 pieces, very well detailed.
  • Italeri version has mobile tracks (they can move), Zvezda version does not.
  • Zvezda version has fully modeled turret interior, Italeri does not.
  • Neither of the two makers did a very good job at making it easy to assemble the skirts for both turret and hull. Italeri version was a bit more forgiving.
  • I liked working on both tanks equally

If you want a more forgiving experience, go Italeri.

If you want a tank in more detail, but more difficult to assemble, go Zvezda.

I have 4x Tamiya models ordered since April 10th and en-route to me, I was hoping for them to arrive Friday but I think they will be delayed:

Tamiya 35252 German King Tiger Ardennes Front

Tamiya 35138 Russian T-34/85 Tank

Tamiya 35108 Russian T-62A Tank

and my wife's favorite (she sat on it at Tankfest 2019)

Tamiya 35357 German Assault Pioneer Team & Goliath Set

My wife helps me with painting and assembling. Gonna have so much fun during lockdown!

Italeri has good models. Less details and parts makes it a bit more user friendly in general. I am more of a Tamiya man myself.

In terms of 1/35 armour they really aren’t up to modern standards which is not surprising considering much of the catalogue started life in the 70’s. I’m not sure I’d even describe them as user friendly when you can pick up a Tamiya kit, of the same era, for much the same price and one thing about Tamiya is they’ve always know how to produce shake-and-bake kits.

The kits in question, they are really aimed at the wargaming market and not the modelling one. Saying that I’ve not even sure if these are Italeri originals or re-boxes from a different manufacture.

That’s a slightly unfair comparison as you’re comparing two kits of very different ages. Zvezda’s more recent releases are good models but their early releases,  well the less said about them the better.

These kits are fine for the casual younger builder.

But they are far too simplistic for the average modeller.

Oh Wargaming, why did you partner with Italeri.

In my experience (building models for over 40 years), Italeri are one of the worse kit manufacturers out there.

Plus I have seen plans for better looking 3D printed tank models in this scale.

Looked at product images, these things look

so tacky when assembled, not worth 10 euros even.

Google Zvezda tanks.
