It's PC cleaning time for me and that means taking out the 2TB harddisk where I've stored all my PC(s) data on since 2009. When making WoT backups, I couldn't help but notice a folder called 'screenshots' in the supposedly already backed up WoT folder. Turns out, these were images captured from since I started playing the game in 2013. I know that's not long for some of the Beta people here, but still, the screenshots are a timetravel for me and frankly a way to show how much can change in 7 years.

Anyway, I thought I'd share the shots with you, we all like nostalgia right? And if you've not been here for very long, this is what the game once looked like!

I'll give a bit of instruction with every picture, figuring out what the hell I captured in the process :teethhappy:

Dem graphics! The absolute first shot I ever took in this game. June 27th, 2013...

This might very well be the very garage after said game. I can't even remember being in KILL3... also look at those tanks, true wallet warrior from the start :)

Good old Severogorsk, a map I've secretly always liked. Same goes for the back then not nerfed ELC AMX by the way.

One of the tanks I was the most proud of was the M24 Chaffee. For the unaware, it was a tier 5 with the gun and turret from what we now call the T37. Matchmaking was insane, because yes, those are tier 10 tanks. And this was not a fail platoon. And a fail platoon is... well, you know what, do your Google work.

Good old Port, with this glitch. Also back when the T67 had a closed off top turret and was called the T49. I actually prefered it back then...

Considering that Jagdpanther was my best tank at the time, I had around 2k games played. Not a bad result. Right??? (:D)

Way before template MM this was a thing. Imagine being that M6...

If you have any very old WoT shots to share, I'd love to see it!

I just found some shots of when it was little... better times :(

21:19 Added after 1 minute

Long before 'blocked damage' there was 'potential damage'. Which also counts HE non-pens (i.e. KV-2 splashes on you, that's 910 potential damage) and tracking/crits. That's Maus territory, as displayed here.

5.000 games played, finally unlocked the 120 mm on my first tier 9, the Conqueror. Special place in my heart this tank.

The abomination that was historical battles. Totally ruined the MM.

Oh you thought this was bad?

Huzzah

As mentioned, tiny FV304. What a machine that was.

Oh and Karl in 8bit was a thing... I would love that to be a thing again.

Some slightly newer/less old shots (2015). This pop up message basically meant you completed the third campaign. It was that frustrating.

First time ever 2 marking a tank that was quite hard to 2 mark. I think this was after the ELC which was piss easy back then. T-54 was pretty challenging. It was basically the first ever confirmation of me being a 'good player'.

December 2015, meaning this thing has been in my possession for 4 years now. It felt like eternity after its implementation for me to get it. I still play it regularly as I still love it and it's probably the most esthetically pleasing tank in the game.

The research cost of the Chaffee held the noobs away from it ;)

Before end of 2013 you couldn't fire through fences and stuff and ofcourse the terrible square render range. And the 'physics'.

:)

Remember the old battle results screen?

When you kill 2/3 of the enemy team yourself and still lose.

My best game ever

The 'About Me' section in my profile is pretty vintage:

Back in the days of global chat, when you could make failplatoons and just after the E-75's gearbox was moved from the back of the tank to the front.

The good ol' days before arty stun.

Yep, 8,528 damage in my arty including 1 shotting that IS-4 for 2,500 damage... I remember getting a nasty message from those EXNOM boys after that game

Going to see today if I have some older screenshots left, probably they're in other computer, which I don't have access atm. But big, big thanks to op, this is by far the best topic in forum!

I would fight you over this. I hate the T-55A Texture quality so much, I've ranted about it for years. :teethhappy:

I can’t remember when they changed it so that as bottom tier cannon fodder your most meaningful contribution to a battle would be to quickly drive to a bridge and use your smoking hulk to stop the enemy crossing it.

One of the few maps not removed for bad heat maps or unbalanced WR. Console did a good rework of it WG should look at.

Since the port map got mentioned I still do have a screenshot of it due to having noticed some kind of mini-bug.

In the sandy area there had been a ditch in which the deep water sign would pop up despite that ditch containing no water whatsoever.

Well, it wasn't deep enough to trigger the actual drowning countdown anyways.

Can't even remember when I last had binocs on my 38(t)nA

Watched that Act 2 video last night that WG are promoting the anniversary with.

I know that it's several years ago but compared to the graphics now it's like night and day. When I first started playing WoT an I3 laptop with Intel GPU, HD of course, was my PC of choice and I thought the graphics were great back then. Really must resurrect the old laptop and see how it plays WoT now, may get a few FPS....
