Hello it's me again :honoring:

Today is the day that I've finally grinding through the black prince and hated every second of it. Bearing in mind it was my first tier 7 I raced to get years ago, which I got with a 75% crew and didn't spend an ounce of free xp on . Now that that is over I'm starting to consider plopping myself into tier 8, but am cautious, as first tier 8 is important and a lot of free xp will go into it as I do not want another stock heavy situation. It's good to research before you buy and the good people of the forum always provide: what's a smart and safe tier 8 to get?

I have researched the caernarvon but I do have other options: I have a lot of xp in my Tiger and t29, is the tiger 2 any good? What about the American heavies above tier 7? On the medium side I'm slowly working through the t20, are the American mediums worth it? Furthermore I played 5 rental games in the progetto and enjoyed it a lot, I played alright in it too, is the Pantera much worse? I assume slightly.

I'd like to commit so tl;dr which lines have a strong tier 8, 9 and 10, for a heavy/medium tank player?

The Panterra is amazing and a well respected tank.

Russians are always good too

I do well in my Caernarvon and I am certainly not a great player. Get it hull down and it is surprisingly strong

Make sure you use a crew book or have at least 2 crew skills before entering! After the pain of churchills and prince (I enjoyed Black Prince) you should really enjoy the Caernarvon (rammer vert stabs vent/optic), probably the best non prem allround heavy at the moment.

Heavy: IS3-T10-Obj 277 / IS7,   Carn- Conq-Super Conq

Med: T44-obj 430- obj430u or for finese T44-T54-Ob140,  Pantera-StandardB-Progetto65

Any of those will be good the obj430u and IS7 lines being a bit easier to play than the 277 and obj 140 routes.

What type of tank do you feel comfortable in?  Choose that line and enjoy your game.  Best of luck.ps what gruff said is good advice.

Hello there sir. I remember my very first tier8 - I was the STA-1 and I was totally clueless how to play it :D . My second was Tiger II. I consider tier 1 -4 as low tier, and tier 5 - 7 as mid tier, tier 8- 10 as high tier. Caernarvon with top modules can be very good tank, really. Now excuse me I am trying to read and write but I drank already half liter of rum, so excuse some grammar mistaknes. I love Tiger II but I would not reccomend it today untill they buff it. American heavies -- well tier 7 is right now the best I think - keep it if you have it, really good tank. Black Prince can be good - really good overall armor - but you have to spam premium ammo.. Pantera as mentioned is really good Tier8 medium, only second best to proggeto.

and please: [edited]everyone who should call you noob in battles. its only a [edited]video game, virtual tanks.

Thanks all, I should be safe to buy that caern then. As for the panterra I was slightly concerned it wouldn't live up to its premium counter part, but that is a relief.

One last question though: how viable are the american mediums and heavies?

I heard the 110e5 wasn't very good, is the one before it alright? I'd also like to play American mediums, are they any good?

Hey dude, Caern is good , Conq and Super Conq are very good.

Tiger 2 is pretty trash but the E75 is solid.

American heavies from tier 8 and above are underwhelming for me.

Pantera line is very good but you have to have experience in one-shots and autoloaders as they play as a hybrid.

After you get the M46 elited, it is solid , as is the M48. The Pershing not so much.

Ah the black prince, I gave up on that pretty quick and then just skipped it with blueprints when those became a thing!

Once you get the Caern (and unlock the modules) that is a decent tier 8 and the Conq and S Conq are very competitive as well.

If you want to mix things up, the IS 7 and Obj 430U lines are generally considered some of the best particularly for the newer player as they lines are fairly forgiving throughout and the 8-10 tier tanks are all pretty strong. the Polish line isn't terrible if you can reach the heavies but the mediums are hard work. Also the medium line up to the Leopard 1 is very popular.

I honestly find the US lines for mediums and heavies quite underwhelming once you get past tier 7, I think they've just been power creeped by some of the newer lines. However now the T57 Heavy has moved into the main heavy line its much easier to reach and worth a look if you like autoloaders.

Caernarvon is borderline OP. I'd go for that one since you already have a good crew and experience with the line.

Honestly I think you have some good tanks lined up for Tier 8. More importantly to have a decent experience at Tier 8 is to really invest some time and effort to learn about the strong and weak points of the armor of opposing tanks and the best positioning of yourself on the map to make use of your strong points and to cover your weak points.

What Hamsterkicker said...but a side note from my pov.

Decent experience comes with battles and the will to learn. To be honest sub 5000 battles are IMO too few to be able to perform in a way that one can get enjoyment out of the game in the higher tiers.

So took a look at the tanks you own, my apologies for that, but to me they show you still are still on the learning curve when looking at your tier 8 premiums. Recents in t7 are more there though.

My advice would be to stick to mid tiers, learn the maps and learn your t8/9 opponent weakspots. Get more accustomed to tier 8 with your premium...until: you can comfortably can deal your tanks amount of HP in damage, then IMO a player is more ready to move up a tier.

I should say those tier 8s were all rentals from various twitch prime packages from over a year ago, I don't own any tier 8s at all, hence why I made the post to ask which would be a good first. But yes this is good advice, and my most recent t8 rental was a 5 game progetto where I think I did decently, I'd like to say I'm ready?

This.

Go for IS7 , 430U & Super Conq first. Learn the game here. Play more than 200-300 battles with each.

Then go to 277 and 140. When you master those you can go for lighter armored Mediums/TDs and Light tanks.

Leopard , STB , TVP , Progetto 65 are all gems in the Medium class.

LT100 , 13 105 & EBR are the best scouts.

268-v4 , Grille & E3 are the best TDs (Play 268 and E3 first leave the Grille for later).
