From what I have read of the recent, albeit brief, re-introduction of cross-team chat, it was generally well received but suffered from usual shenanigans that caused it's removal in the first place.

Then it struck me - almost all of the negativity associated with cross-team chat could be nullified by muting dead folk from chat.

No more ranting, no more giving away of positions, no more incessant map pinging - all in all it's win - win.

What say you?

Edit for shocking spellin musteak

Were enemy troops cheerfully chatting with eachother in war or were they blowing eachother's brains out?...

It's the latter.

What a ridiculous question:facepalm:

This game bears absolutely zero resemblance to real life.

I like the banter with the enemy. It's often fun & amusing. Taunting the enemy to come get you & they you. Congratulating on a good game or a nice shot & so forth.

But to the OP. I would to have alive tanks being able to alive enemy players. Dead players only being able to talk to dead players. Because there's nothing more i hate is players on my own team spamming & insulting because the alive players are not doing what they want. It's a game we get to play how we like, within the rules of course.

That's decent. It would stop the rage whiners who give away positions after they die because of their own stupidity.

All chat is fun and should stay and muting dead players from cross chat would solve the issue of revealing positions.

That still doesn't stop players from yelling at the enemy arty while it's shooting them. Only after it's killed them.

Yeah but at least the game isn't actually ruined by revealing positions which is far more toxic than some guy raging at the enemy. They can just block someone who's being angry.

I rather liked the reintroduction of cross team chat, once I had had figured out you had to tab to enable.....

Not many used it and can't say I saw any toxicity or revealing of positions, that would probably change as folks got used to it though.

I wonder why WG enabled it for a week though, were/are they considering a permanent reintroduction?

Anyways voted for  the second option.

Seconded.

Alternatively, you could have separate chat bans (all team vs blanket), with the former only requiring like three or four reports in a single battle.

I'd like it back but unfiltered as talking after dead to the person that killed you or cheering on your team is part of the fun.

What I would like though is additional daily reports or a new catagory to use on people ingame that gave away team positions, so that given enough reports they would be barred from using general chat for a week, with that time getting longer with repeated rule breaches.

Voted Yes with dead players muted.

Personally I would have put dead players in their own separate dedicated channel. So there still can be "interaction" between the dead folk, but no interaction between the dead folk and the folk still playing in the battle.
