the only points you can complain about are the very, very horrible matchmaking and it's turret.
but if you are able to play with the new magazine-reloading-system this tank makes a lot of fun.
for example: uncover behind a rock and empty your 6-shot-magazine in the side of a t-44 and he will be below 50% of it's hitpoints.

You forgot the part about half of your penetrating shots being absorbed by tracks without them falling off.

Once you get past the initial shock of the lack of elevation/depression on the oscillating turret (in real life the whole top of the turret recoiled with the gun and allowed you to mount very powerful guns without adding massive recoil dampening cylinders) and the fact every other hit on your vehicle will blow the engine to bits it's actually a very enjoyable little tank.

For one, it plays right up my alley vis a vis of tactics. I use it the same I use my Bt 2 (and yes, I know that's not the way most people use it, I just like it that way) - I tend to hide behind the main line and snipe targets of opportunity, because the autoloader really helps with that and the lack of elevation is unimportant at longer ranges, then use my speed to exploit any weaknesses in the enemy's defence or to catch up with scouts that have penetrated our lines. Since I rarely shoot on the move (I like to hit what I'm aiming, thank you) the fact this vehicle can't shoot while driving really doesn't inconvenience me at all.

Also, I can't emphasize this enough: DON'T get shot. EVER! As long as you can stay hidden you have free reign, but as soon as they figure out where you are they're going to blow you to bits and there's not much you can do about it except run away. Consumables come in very handy here and allow you to shrug off an engine hit, but also a toolbox is a must for this tank, as it is for most TDs. (Yeah, I figure it's closer to a TD than a light - think t28 meets M10 and you'll be fine)

All in all, if played by an experienced tanker using hit and run tactics, this is one vehicle with a lot potential and I'm sure the AMX 13 75/90 will be even better, because so far those two were the only enemies that could reliably hunt me.

AMX 12t is one big failure (terrible MM, bad acceleration and turning, can shoot only on flat terrain, cant even snipe cause of 0,37 acc gun) - its the reason i quitted french line

You made a big mistake, the 13 75 is a very good tank. Fast, agile, good gun, amazing view range and camo.

maybe so, but playing AMX 12t was for me even worse than M3 Lee or Pz 38na...

i'll give it another chance in few weeks though, hopefully something will change

Something I just realised - and have been experimenting with for the last hour or so- when fighting in an urban environment or just peeking round corners, it's best to drive this tank BACKWARDS. Sure, speed is reduced by 5-10km/h but acceleration is about the same and in any case, that means you can dart back to cover a lot faster and your engine is out of the way...

Yes you need to show your back to the enemy. Armor is the same = 0, but you cant be hit in the engine. I also say, if you are in a good position, where enemy cant see you, and you can shoot or scout them, turn your back to the enemy, so if you need to leave the place quick, you dont need to turn (and you wont get engine dmg from first shot), and ofc, if you run, turn your turret to the enemy, coz ammorack is in the back of the turret. Its not that bad, true, its worst then a PzIV, but the 13 75 will be amazing with elited status. The 13 75 gun has 144 pen (so you can dmg almost every tank in the side/rear up to tier9 - only is4 is a problem) 135dmg (so you can do about 700dmg in 10 sec to every single tank) and the gun has 0.31 acc, so you can snipe. The 13 75 has 440m view range, and thats a lot, has also hell of a radio range, so you can go ahead and hide, you can also elevate your gun a bit better, you have a lot more hp. If you can reach the 13 75, and max it out, you will love the french tree.

Oh, I already love the French tree, even though my AMX 12 is not even maxed out yet. I don't know why people keep saying the AMX 12's manoeuvrability is poor, when you can pull a lot of driving tricks so that the enemy keeps missing. I just went HTH with a full health Pershing and I almost got him (left him with 18% when I got stuck on a wreck and he finally killed me).
Besides, here you can see my second to last game (please note stock engine and tracks and second gun):

AMX 12T is a LIGHT tank, matched with T8-T9...You could logically conclude your best role: scout

Take a good position and spot enemy with your good view range (binocular mandatory) and good camo value (with camo net of course)  (i remember you that acting like this actually help your team and makes you earn credit and xp)

Then when enemy's have been cleaned up, go for arty or juicy back...

playing it other way and fail badly, even top tier.

My 2 cents.

I'm playing the Chaffee and it's the one you can compare the best to the AMX 12t.

View range: 460 > 420 (very important)
Crew: 5 > 3
Hit Points: 530 > 430 (very important, when they both have few armour)
Top speed: 56 km/h < 60 km/h)
Combined traverse: 90° / s > 88 ° / s
superior gun elevation and depression on Chaffee
Acceleration: roughly the same
Radio: 700 or 850 m > 410 m
Armour: 25/25/19 and 38/25/25 < 50/20/15 and 40/20/20
Visibility: AMX 12t will be a lot less visible

Now the most important part. The gun. Even the Chaffee can have a hard time penetrating foes (most heavy tank drivers know about impact angles). You rarely meet heavy tanks alone, by the way, random team is not team training.

Penetration: 137 > 108
Damage: 115 > 110
RoF: 21.05 > 4.8 (9.6?)
Accuracy: .34 > .37

Summary: Far superior gun and view range on the Chaffee. Mobility is the same.  Less armour, which mostly doesn't matter, but hit points do. Less Visibility is the only big advantage of the AMX 12t.

Conclusion: Grind through it and buy its successors. They are more competitive.

Lack of elevation makes it a bit of a nightmare - really restricts where you can go on many maps.  I'll probably get used to it - but I'm usually pretty mobile, and I got it largely for the speed.  I suspect its probably more effective parking it somewhere where you can actually hit things and not really moving around more than necessary :(

Well, i am not doing to good in mine -.- Matchmaking seem to hate me. Guess i will have to find a suited playstyle for this tank.

Btw, I used free xp to research all equip before battling with it:)

Very good with 75% crew , best engine and tracks , stock gun. Typical arty killer. Some newbies forgot it can shoot 6 shells in few sec :)

I usually get 1-2 maybe 3 kills on this thing, but I'm completely useless to my team unless I'm not put in a tier8+ match.

Mopping up people when we are winning or killing some other poor lowbie is not something that is usefull to the team.
It doesn't have enough accel , ESPECIALLY not enough uphill speed and not enough hp to scout at higher tiers.

It's only good as scout killer, something any med is better at.

I have not had a single game where 12t would be in the top half. Every single game I am at the rock bottom as lowest tier. Even with all upgrades it seems that 12t cannot pen anything. Yes you can get lucky shot here and there, kill unlucky PzIII that is also stuck with you in high Tier match etc. Not to mention that one-two hits from anything T6 up is enough to vaporise you. Generally speaking this is biggest piece of **** that calls itself Tier V tank. Even T-34 that I really hated is mega great tank in comparison.

I kinda hoped all will come to its place and I still play it but nothing changes, all the time in bottom of table and cannot pen anything ... few mins ago I unloaded 6 shots at Pershing side from like 10 meters away, Pershing sides are 76mm, gun pen is 100mm, but all 6 dinged.

If 12t was matched with up to tier6, with few tier7 around experience with this tank would be probably much better. There is hope that higher tiers are more playable, we'll see.

If it doesn't fit your playstyle, then, well, don't play it, because it will get even worse for you (AMX13/75 is a lot better than AMX12t thou). Every single tank is piece of garbage if it isn't fully upgraded and with decent crew level, apart from premium tanks that is - some will stay that way, some will not. Calling tank "garbage" after ~10 games in it is certainly very mature. I drove US meds before (through M7 line) so im quite used to the playstyle defined by them - french tanks just take it to extreme and I like it.

This. Also, I destroyed TigerP in this thing. I like this tank way more than the dreadful AMX 40.
