Do you think they are competitive? Good or bad?

I guess everything depends on your play style.

I personally like the PZ VII and VK7201K a lot and I think these tanks are competitive. Apart from those 2 I am not a big fan of rear turreted tanks.

When in their element - sidescraping on flat ground - they can be beasts (key word CAN, sometimes even that is not enough).

Everywhere else, the rear turret is more of a hassle than anything else.

They're usually nothing to get excited about or simply just plain bad

There are good reasons why in real life tanks did not have rear turrets

I found playing the A-44 a pretty horrible experience.  With hindsight maybe I should have given it camo and binos and played it as a TD

And then you got the Merkava...

But all-in-all, rear-mounted turrets in WoT have niche applications for sidescraping as mentioned above, since it is easier for them to take a shot without exposing too many weakspots at once.

For certain front-mounted tanks, reverse sidescraping is sometimes an option.

So long as you have a fully rotatable turret they're fine. Semi-rotatables can be a right pain because the view doesn't track independently of the hull movement properly.

Fair point, although I would see that as a mid rather than a rear turret

The IDF also have unique design criteria in that one of the main purposes is to prevent crew casualties, so having the engine in front does make sense.

183 is really good with the rear mounted turret. Makes it really easy to sidescrape snap shot heavies. Rear mounted turrets make sidescraping a lot easier but WG always adds a weakpoint right in the middle of the side so it's ineffective at the end of the day.

In my opinion it can be interesting to fight with them from time to time. I do like my 705A, BUT... the thing has horrendous gun handling so... yeah

Here's something I've been wondering - did real tanks ever sidescrape?

I would be surprised.

Too much effort and too litlle reward.

From the opposite team PoV it's: Can't deal with a tank in cover? Flank it, send in infantry or call in close air support.

Tanks hate cities anyway and try to avoid them.

Rear turreted tanks are better than turretless tanks.

Bad. Non-historical. Just another trick to lure kids to play this game.

Some of them are good,VK B, others are trash, A-44. Though they require a certain style of play to be useful.

They aren't meta tanks, so there you go.

(#NotCompetitive) :(

But, they got more mojo than regular tanks.

I liked A44 a lot when I grinded that line. It's alpha was very good.

I think we'd rather talk to some madame in a house of repute.
