As the title says, why doesnt WG try and create a system where they start selecting a few trusted, mature, old players and make them review replays sent through the tickets, so all the players who push and block get punished?

These reviewers could get rewarded with some gold for their time.

Pros, cons?

It's a lovely idea, can't see it happening given reservations about making players judge and jury vs employees.

I am sure there wouldn't be a shortage of volunteers in lockdown and unable to work who would love to put some time back into the game to help clean it up.

Wouldn't take too many bans for the word to get around and for things to improve, after which when lockdown ends you can relax the volume a lot and still perhaps retain the same impact.

Pro:- It would help give a quick response to such incidents.

Con:- It would hamper wealth distribution and the trickle down effect....as someone would be out of a job.

Because WG's only interest is the profit it can make not the integrity of the core product.  When cheats and bots start to negatively effect the profits they make then they might be interested.

I'd question the impartiality of those players.

And I also question their ability to spot cheats (since you mentioned in tags).

Tbh, I would not trust it more then I would WG to do it. As at some point, the "under the table" stuff will start. A trusted player or not.

But then again all they should do if that was the case is look at the replay. Any action should not be up to them. As most replays are not much to look at anyway. Any real replay should be marked and looked at by WG to confirm it. If the players get's to decide alone? Well...

What you have there is a job description for a real life position that gets "paid" the wrong kind of virtual goods.

There's your problem.

CSGO has the same thing, It is called overwatch.

I believe more then 1 player review the replay to avoid false bans, And if certain number of players agreed then he gets banned.

And of course, The overwatch ban lasts only for a limited time not endless, But it gets the job done, I see no real harm coming from that.

Plus the overwatch users get rewards for their "right" choice, So that's extra reason to do it.

Simple. Because they may have consciousness and do the right thing(or the opposite) and that is not controllable enough for corporate.

Simple, trusted, mature and old players does not mean rational. Anyone can be subject to making decisions or take actions base on their emotions at any one time.

Remember to punish someone is a decision. Decisions need rational thinking. Rational thinking is rarer than diamonds these days.

In a nutshell:

Some poor sucker who throws his life away for a bit of in-game gold is neither sane nor an unbiased judge.

(There are no pros, only cons.)

I would not mind doing that for 30 minutes a day or so.

I think it would do lots of good for the game.

In CS:GO you have to be pretty good at the game to be able to review replays.

They should make a system where you can watch replays (or parts of them) from the game client, with player names anonymized. Camera controls and playback options could also be updated a fair bit.

Maybe we could program some rudimentary logic in detecting cheaters and bots:

If (clanname.equals( "FAME" ) {

   hacks_confirmed_issue_ban();

} else {

  working_as_intended();

}
