First, a bit of Shakespeare:

"To XVM, or not to XVM, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer (humilating defeats and not know why)
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune (RNG),
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles (know you're doomed from the loading screen so farm DMG)".

So my question is simple, should you use XVM or not. I've used it for ages, but have begun questioning why. Does it positively effect my gameplay experience, or just add stress?

Seems like almost all top players don't use it — at least the ones I've seen on Twitch. There must be a reason for that.

Anonymizer should've at least partially relieved some people's problem with XVM, so is it worth using now? Does it help tactically, or does it create angst as thine eyeballs are greeted by a loading screen from the bowels of Hades, and you realise you're on yet another tomato salad team against a bunch of bogeys, smurfs, and unicorns.

So, to XVM, or not to XVM, that is the question.

If you have to ask yourself, you shouldn't.

XVM is just toxic. I have lost track of the number of times I have seen a player, or players, declare a game lost before it even begins and then suicide.

Do you want to play the game or focus on bad players on your team, conspiracy theories about rigged MM or avoiding unicums on the enemy team?

I don't use XVM. I couldn't care less what's the skill-level of my team or the enemy team. I focus on my own performance and I happen to get a potato team then so be it. Maybe I'll get a good team for the next game.

Forget about the player side of XVM, it'll just depress you - I think the garage-based stuff is quite useful - puts MOE's and win rates for vehicles in plain view, not exactly essential stuff, but handy to have!

I only just started to use the part where it shows player colours according to their WR for the first time ever. I yet have to find out if it's helping me or not, On one hand, it helps to gauge the capability of my teammates before I commit to something and shows if you should rush the guy or not, but on the other hand, when I see a purple enemy I feel intimidated and play too passively. Time will tell.

But If I could I would remove it for everyone,

No you should not use XVM, it only promotes douchy gameplay and gives you a real advantage vanilla players do not have, since you can see which are the best players on the enemy team and focus them.

XVM stats should be purged from within matches.

You do know that happens a lot also with players who do not use xvm.

So many times, I have seen someone declare a game lost before it even begins. That person then usually plays very passive and/or defensive, which leads to the very mistakes that precede a loss. And after the fact, the person usually goes like "Told you so,". Pointing out that his defensive/passive play contributed to the loss doesn't go over well.

Just play each game as it comes. Always assume that your teammates are complete morons (so don't rely on them) and that your enemies are a bunch of unicums with WG-sponsored aimbots. Take the old saying "This game is 1 vs 29, 15 of which you have to kill." to heart.

Never allow anyone to tell you "the odds" and wonder after a match what a good player you just killed or how your team won that one despite being clinically brain-dead.

Just...don't use XVM. It leads to either overconfident or cowardly play - both of which are dangerous.

XVM intrigues me for the colour stuff to see what sort of match up the teams are but I don't believe in using that sort of thing so won't. And I could see it just annoying me

Best not to use it, it only makes you play in ways that you shouldn't.

I used it for a while when WG introduced the accepted MODPACK page and used the Solo one.  However, I found I'd made my mind up at the start of the game if it was a win or loss just by looking at the colour coding and without the chance to win being displayed being on so I play vanilla now.

Besides that, you don't need XVM to tell you who is good or bad on the team.  Just watching the light and heavy tanks park as per TDs whilst others move to actually do the job their vehicle was intended for tells you all you need to know.

The main reason I had xvm was for the additional circles on the map showing view range etc. I found that especially useful in lights. That's all I miss having not reinstalled xvm since getting a new laptop.

Anyone know if I can get that another way?

I remember when wn8's expected vehicle values were just copy pasted due to lack of people keeping the tables updated, so they botched it. Every same tiered & same class vehicle would have the exact same expectations, while everyone with a speck of game experience knew very well that vehicles between the same tier and same class perform rather differently. It was at that point that I recognised wn8 as nothing more but a pet project that may or may not recieve proper attention, and therefore is an unreliable source of information.

This also means that I dont consider something like XVM to be accurate enough to do what it's pretending to do. It's like skim milk, which is water thats lying about being milk.

Sadly, this is totally a thing for non-xvm users as well. There are a lot fewer players using xvm than many seem to think.

Ive used xvm for the last 15k battles and I dont regret it at all.

I do try to avoid making decicions based on only that, but it is helpful.

Tried it once. ... Couldn't make head nor tail of it.

So on principal I stopped using it.

Lastly a quote from Groucho Marx 'Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others'

It seems to me that there are two types of players.
One type could probably use XVM without particular ill effect, and gain the occasional bit of info from it which could somewhat improve their game, but does not use it.
The second type does use it, but as a result becomes angry, depressed or gets bias confirmation for their tin foil hat theories, and plays worse as a result, while doing their best to [edited]the game up, and certainly its enjoyment, for the rest of their team.

IMO people who insult their team from before the off, then suicide based on XVM deserve an automatic ban.
