I deciding to have some variety on my games and I decided to go via the British TD tech tree.

Who was the bright spark in WG that made the mid tier TDs so useless to play,

I saw this video from a YT WoT vlogger and saying how bad this tank is.

So, my question to WG, is why do you do this and why you worry more about your silly Personal Missions that encourages selfishness in the battlefield than making useless tanks that can't help the team????

With the introduction of wheelies and more powerful tanks, there is actually NO REASON to play British TDs

AT-8 was always good and is borderline OP now.

The only issues it has are those that every tank that goes slower than 35 km/h has. Once you are committed you are committed. This does make them harder to play when you don't use the minimap or don't adapt to your team.

If you want to rant about bad Brit TDs, especially in tier 6, there is actually a valid subject available.

Well if you're having issues with armoured ones, how about you try the other line, which is more mobile and has a turret? British AT line always had the same disadvantage - they are slow, so you won't be running all over the place carrying the match. They have quick shooting, high pen guns, and at the beginning of the match you're required to have psychic powers to determine the biggest points of contention, so that you can take your slow lumbering TD there and keep your gun busy, because, once you're there - you're there. Just like Private_Miros said.

If you have trouble predicting the future, and reading your team's intentions, I suggest you pick faster vehicles which don't have major issues with stuff such as relocating.

Yep. I didn't think the AT8 would be any good so I stopped on the tier five for years. But in actual fact the AT8 is pretty effective and the armour holds well. So well in fact that I'm loathe to go up the tiers in it and might just stop here since the AT7 looks like a heap of junk. I know a lot of tier sevens are essentially the same as their tier six ancestors and thus tier-for-tier that much weaker, but the armour layout on the AT7 suggest that it might be much, much worse.

If you think British mid-tier TDs are rubbish, it is time you tried their lights.

The AT-8 is insanely strong now.
And at T7 you have Challenger which is also a good tank after the new gun it got.
AT-7 is not that bad either, but require more thought then the AT-8 if you want to succeed (you have to always fight in ways such that you hide most of the tank and only peek with gun).
The Achilles at T6 is also a pretty decent TD.

It is the 2 T5 British TD that sucks, Archer and AT-2

Is it worth the jump from the Challenger to the Charioteer in your opinion?

Wheelies have made very little difference in the gameplay of the slowest tanks - don't know why people keep on using them as an argument despite even fast heavies having always had the chance of flanking or even circling them.

AT-7 and AT-8 are amazing TDs.

After starting new thirst thing I did was grinding for Torte, because that thing is completely insane.

And I had a lot of fun Tier 5-7

They did .

Fast heavy tank aint spotting you in the first 15 seconds of the game.

And with the wheelys and the LT changes and You tubers ppromoting mediums ...made the game much more fast passed.

And if you have a steam roll you cant keep up..

Yes, Charioteer is very nice. Turret rotation is a bit naff but the gun itself is good, 268mm can handle most things and you get some nice 210mm pen HESH shells that do 480 with an 1100m/s velocity. Great for ruining EBRs. :)

I'm having a lot of fun in my recently acquired AT15a from the grindathon, the pew pew is a bit annoying (sometimes I just like to smack people in the face with a big ol' fuckoff gun) but it fills a niche.

Sounds like I should dust off my AT-8; I haven't played it for ages but I have an insanely good (for me) WR in it. It used to be great for "tip-of-the-spear" street pushes with friendly heavies behind you.

I know the "meta" is speed and maneuverability these days, but there's still a role for these assault-gun style TD's I think.

And? Nothing has changed. It was like so before the cars.

I stopped playing british TDs when they changed the line and added the badger. I was getting golded through the front of my armour in AT-8 every game anyway and it's slow as hell.

They used to be considerably more effective, but since WG have been gradually speeding up the game play dynamic, a lot of tanks are literally getting left behind.
I dunno if this was to encourage people to change up in their garages (if get my drift), or they just didn't think it through. Either way, it's a bit of a mess just now and they really need to address it.

Haven't played Charioteer, but heard it is a good tank.

So don't have an opinion here.

Both are good now, Challenger has the advantage of not having to play against the most un-balanced tier.
