I find new reduced tech tree so damning! Why? What was the point? Work was done already anyway? So many german (and others) tanks from early levels not available - it WAS FUN to start the game with new nation, boring now.

All the tanks are still available.

Well several reasons. Others did not find it equally fun to start from tier II all the time as you might have done. Especially new players. Thus WG decided to... simplify things. That and older players skipped to tier 5 or 6 when a new line came vs grinding it. So for them it made no difference.

They are still there. As long as you have a tier equal to the tank you want to buy unlocked in that nation, it's available. At the top of the tech tree now next to the nation name a new button is shown. Click it and you will be taken to the collector's store. Or go via the store button at the top, and to the new collector's section, then click on the nation you want to explore. All the removed tanks are there from tier 1 to X. The upside is that you won't have to grind to get each one separately. And that since they don't lead to a new tank, they are faster to elite. That ofc means you still have to grind the modules for some of them.

The stream lined tech tree is actually a pretty good thing in combinaton with the collector store.

The collector store is for now just a graveyard. Why would anyone pick a tank there ? They have 0 interest.

Have you driven low tier battles lately?

Yes, collector vehicles are available, but most matches are nearly (Tech tree)Light Tanks only.

And that makes sense, y drive these collectors vehicles? There is no incentive.

The game has lost a bit appeal in low tiers if u ask me. The variety is gone.

And: New players will not train early in TDs and arty, nonono. They will start at tier IV.

Bad enough that new players get a present Tier VI tank quite early on.

Now they learn how to drive a new tank class in mid tiers.

And most likely have a false impression of how light tanks behave later on.

It was not the best decision WG ever had. Not nearly as bad as top tier arta, but not as good as buffing spall liner through change of HE formula, either.

I initially didn't mind the split that much.

But upon giving it more thought, it does make people play less battles on lower tiers. Causing them to die out even more than they already are.

WG seems to not want anyone to play low tiers, since the entire game just motivates you to not play them:

-No battlepass progress with low tiers

-Pretty much all missions are not available on low tiers

-No Marks of Excellence on low tiers

It's like WG is ashamed of it's low tiers.

And I understand that we don't want more sealclubbers on low tiers, but there already are plenty of sealclubbers there.

If more skilled players would actually play low tiers, maybe it would actually help newer players, because they might be able to help take care of the actual sealclubbers.

I'm actually don't mind the new version of the Tech Tree's.

Because most of those low tier tanks were just crap and usless anyway...

The reason WG doesn't want players to play in lower tiers is simple. They make no revenue from it.

The new tech tree is horrible and super bland, so many iconic and historic tanks hidden away behind tabs and menus many new players will never discover.

The sad fact about this pushing new players into high tiers too quickly is now apparent. Either with this slimmed down tech tree, too many x5 tokens or blueprints.

Players with less than 2k games sub 44% wr now infest tier IX and X. All enjoying 4 or 5 of your team doing 0 damage most games like you playing a tier 1 game?

Ultimately WG's greed will backfire, the new players will leave because they will get frustrated at getting farmed every game.

Don't think they are ashamed.

All things point to WG done this due to there being too little potential to monetize and what potential is there gains them too little margins compared to whats possible around tier 8+ and pushing players towards that level as fast as possible.

That's why they reduced content and not made the collectors worthwhile to play.

But heck they could have made them trainers with a selection of modules to choose from (guns and turret). Would be unique and also give (new) players a reason to play some of them.

This regretfully is not how WG Hoggs think though.

Makes total sense to fix one of the most stupid aspects of lower tiers, which was the excessive small HP pools relative to the damage output and then go and hide most of the tanks behind a collector store that leads nowhere, so that now there is basically one line per nation.

Since that wasn't enough, collector tanks need crew of their own and also require their own grind.

Good luck for those players that are looking to get the achievement for destroying one of each tank in the game.

New Tech Tree - poor decision?

Complete waste of effort and time is what springs to my mind.

Something I don't understand is why I should have a chinese tiers X to buy the 113.

They are only 4 tiers X chinese and none I want (same problem with the AMX 30B).

Well, tbh it would be the 5A, but if I unlocked it, added to my IS7 and 277 it would be too many by adding yet another one (113).

WG could have put some other condition like "no more collection tanks than tree tiers X", or "at least one tiers X of the same kind".

I like it, saves me some free xp to skip tier 1-4. Only thing I don't like is arty on top and lights at the bottom, this is just counter intuitive and thus wrong.

I was taught not to write there.

Anyway, I like the new streamlined tech trees.  They are so much neater.  If anything they could have gone further with the Russian tree, it still has confusing crossover links which no other nation has any more.

I really like the simplification of techtree for low tiers.

It has always been debatable :

do I retrain crew members with silver ?

do I put complexe equipment (which require gold to demount) ?

Because if I do, 10 games later the vehicule is done, and I will have to pay again.

If i don't, then I am in a disadvantage.

Also, the low tier gameplay has nothing to do with mid / high tiers.

New players won't learn much from it anyway.

One thing that would be great for the collection vehicles if they would work like premium tanks in regards of being able to use a same class crew without penalty.

And the ones that were worth having have been spanked to the point of pointlessness.
