Hello, at the next trade-in I will trade my useless Panther 8,8 for HWK 30. This tank will be my first light, so any advice on how to play it and what equipment to mount will be appreciated!

The only sure equipment  I will mount is Vents. My for the other 2 I can't decide. My friend has Binos and Camo net and has good results with them. I am wondering about Optics instead of Binos?

What about Binos AND optics? For bot passive and active scout?

Rammer, vert stabs and optics. Forget binos, camonets and everything Else.

Gameplay wise there isnt enough space to tell how to play lighttanks because it depends on what tanks enemy has, what tanks your team has and where they go and what they do in each map.

Practically you want To have safe early spots, then use your mobility, - 10gundep and good gun for lighttank to cause as much damage as possible. Dont Forget to get plenty of HE rounds, they are very powerfull. Avoid early combat with lt432 and rallycars, they will eat you alive

I think HWK30 is more like light/medium hybrid. Sure its paper, doesnt have any armor whatsover, but if you can pen enemies, it can be better than standart tier 8 mediums apart from italians, as tier8 meds arent really good overall. Its quite big for LT, but has solid gun handling and all that gun stats with decent DPM, and good HE. LT-432 for comparison is excelent LT, but its rasha, thats why its so small, with ridiculous camo and also armor, because Rasha makes the best tanks in the world. Rly, with HWK 30 I think you should use that gun as much as you can.

Yeh no vents. Rammer, v-stab and optics.

It's a damage dealing light, in terms of gun handling, pen, DPM it's pretty much up there or better than a lot of tier 8 meds.

It also has 320 alpha high pen HE rounds, so take a decent amount of those and use them against other lights, paper meds, sides of targets etc. With those rounds you have brutal DPM for a tier 8.

As with all lights a good crew is pretty much essential, full camo crew, BIA, view range skills etc.  If you don't have those things and are starting a new crew try to use PM reward crews or the various gift crew members we have got from events, twitch prime etc. that have free BIA and then use XP boosters and crew XP boosters to quickly improve the skills because a light IMO needs crew skills more than other classes.

As said above it's quick a big light, so it's not hard to hit and is completely paper. It's also only got decent camo, fully pimped it'll only get to about 30% or so, so stuff like EBRs,Even 90s, LT-432s, T92s will have a lot more camo than you and will probably out spot you.

What is does have is 410m base view range which is massive for a tier 8, so you can with crew skills, optics and food push the view range over 500m.

It's a light that probably has to be more cautious than say an LT-432 or Wheeled Vehicle or even an Even 90 because you have no armour and are not super sneaky to be able to take aggressive spots, so it works best as second line tank, especially early on using the gun a lot. It's got decent standard pen on the APCR and also has 250 pen HEAT rounds, which is higher than most other lights have premium rounds so you can do more damage to armoured targets at range (the HEAT shells also oddly have better shell velocity than the APCR rounds).

It's more like a cross between a mini tier 8 Leopard and light, than a pure light.  More of a damage dealer than a spotter. But if you keep your HP intact early game playing at longer ranges, spotting more cautiously, putting support damage in then it can play the full light role later on when the game opens up a bit more.

Under rated tank IMO, the EBR, LT-432 and Even 90 take most of the attention of tier 8 lights, but the HWK-30 is very good all round package, good gun, good HE, still fast, great view range, good gun depression and decent enough camo.

You could imagine it's a Ru251 and look up some tips for that one.

As stated above, the HWK 30 is a paper tank... expect to die alot.

You could set it up as a passive scout to try and avoid combat.... View range could be upto 584 meter (592 with food) which will let you spot hidden enemies who are within 450 meter range.

Cammo rating is ok if you stay hidden.

Modules: Bino, cammo, vents (as passive scout). Use improved vents if you have access to them.

Skills: Brother in Arms, Cammo, Reccon, Situation Awareness and offcourse 6th sence to keep you alive.

It will cost you about 6 - 10 million credits to set up the crew skills unless you have other crew to transfer.

Unless you pimp the HWK 30, it will not be a pleasent experience....

HWK 30 has exceptional view range, very good gun(for a LT) and even better shells(100 HE pen at tier 8and 1000+ velocity on APCR and HEAT with decent for the tier penetration) and it is fast.It is big (for LT) and has no armor .

With decent crew and some food/directives you can go over 500 view range without binos.

It's basicly a tier 8 mini Leopard.

It even looks like a baby Leopard 1.

It's a flipping premium tank, the whole point is to put an existing crew in it.

If you don't have a german LT crew, he doesn't play german LTs

Than there isn't much reason to buy a premium german LT instead of a class or nation that he does play.

It's not like LTs are that much cheaper than other classes.

If the extra money is a problem you should ask yourself if spending money on a pixle tank is the right priority.

This tank is a beast. Especially if you know when to use these HE's. Be sneaky. Use Optic for an extreme spot ability. Prevent 1v1 as long as it is not a pure win or you are about to win the match. Survivability is the weak point of this tank. So that try to stay alive and avoid getting damaged while spotting and doing your damages. And yeah always drive back after a shot. Don't wait for that possible sixth sense warning. Because it will be too late if you are spotted.

Don't expect to be doing much light tank work.

EBRs and LT432s will eat you alive.

Very nice as a mini Leopard, and very rarely you can actually do the spotting thing.

This.

I bought the Hwk a few month ago when it was on sale - and I just cant make it work. Mainly cause of EBRs and 432s. Especially in Frontlines. It is just not meta and it gets stomped by everything.

So now bought the 432 a week ago. And jesus christ. Have played the 432 more than the Progg on Frontlines, and it just performes every single time in a way you could just dream of the Hwk to do.

Oh - and you talk about HE with the Hwk? Pro tip - 432 have basically the same alpha with HE but fires a lot faster - more than 1000+ dpm more with HE. And it actually hits what you are aiming and snapshooting at - unlike ze german.

HWK30 is more like t8 leopard pta than anything else. Just got it some time ago, and really like it.

It does have everything except armour. As long you use it that way, its very nice.

Prepare to be pinged a lot since you did not rush to aggressive  passive scout spot with your poor camo
