Can someone tell me why the 'Super Pershing' that had extra armor welded on; a Panther front cut off and welded on the front plus extra plating welded around the gun mantlet and turrent, is rated as a Medium? when it was in fact the first 'Heavy' tank fielded by the US Army?

Then to add insult to injury another T26 Pershing is trotted out with no extra armor yet it is listed as a Heavy?

And the AMX 40 is a light, the Matilda is a medium... The 50 100 is a HT. The two first are 4 tiers lower, and have more effective armor on some spots vs the tier 8 HT.

Armor alone is not a factor on what class it will play. Or even what role it did get designated by it's represented real-life army. Vs what role WG wants it to play from other aspects, inc balance, roles or even crew. T34 was a tier 8 premium crew trainer. No need to add a 2nd one when the tech tree variant with no plates with the same crew setup is a medium to name one thing.

And the T26 HT? I suspect you mean the T26E5. Keep in mind that it has almost 1.5x more turret armor, and 2x more turret armor vs the medium variants. Even without the plates he is still stronger. The MG port on the T26E4 is 80mm, the E5 has over 200mm effective armor there. Even the cupola is thicker for that to be a medium premium vs even the KR.

Guess that answer shows the diversity of the game...all I was saying was the first heavy tank introduced by uncle sugar was deemed a medium in this game ...even when it was out fitted with more than it came off the show room floor...then...another IS introduced as a HEAVY when it was clearly not...that is all.

Because the Pershing was reclassified by the murikans as a medium tank in... which year was it again? Oh yeah, 1946.

So you can train medium tank crews with it.
