I intend to hang around at T6-T7. I love having huge alpha and workable armor. Mobility and accuracy is not an issue. I just want to hit enemy tanks for a nice amount of HP. I tried the USSR heavies since everyone recommends them to new players, but the KV-1S at tier 6 is very frustrating to play and it's a huge block for me.

Tier 6: ARL 44 will full APCR spam.

Tier 7: Take the T29 and never look back.

T-150, T29 - although they don't have huge alpha, they offer very workable armor on good platforms with good damage.

KV-2 and the Japanese heavies with derp guns if you just want huge alhpa.

I suggest you keep to lower tiers until you learned the basics. KV-1 is an excellent training tank at tier 5. Good gun and perhaps the best armor at tier 5. I suggest you keep playing it until you can reliably do your own HP in damage every game. When you can do that its a good indication you can move on to the next tier.

I wish that obtaining the first MoE would be mandatory before you could move up in the tier...

The KV-1s recently got boosted up to tier 6 from 5 and needs some more buffs to fit in really.  I think if you are looking for armour and alpha the T-150 would be great, vent rammer gld, can hold it's own against top tiers and armour domintes same tier or below.  It is slow to turn so offroad or clutch breaking will help, got it on an NA account and considering gettting it here too, my go to heavy was always ARL44 as it seemed unpopular and rather ugly.

T29 tier 7 is almost a daily drive for me, I like it for the gun rather than just the turret armour.  For massive alpha and armour that is still functional the KV2 derp though you tend to retreat into cover during the 20 second reload.

And thus, a Steve is born...

T 29, Habicha, ARL 44 are pretty much the only options IIRC

Since when did the ARL have good armor? :P

That being said I really like the tank. But its not the easiest tank to play and for the OP it would likely be a disaster. Its huge, slow and no armor but an excellent gun.

Not that much into heavy tanks but T29 has a permanent place in my garage. Like it that much that never went further on that tree :D

Another one that I liked is russki IS. Can have yuuuuge alpha boomstick (preferring 100 mm myself) and armor can bounce something but not Mauslike.

Huge alpha, workable armour and the rest crap, OI is your tank!

Wow, nobody suggested OI yet. Noobs :teethhappy:

Just used OI to get past a blocking mission... it occured to me I had little progress recently in the campaign, turns out I had 1 blocking mission amd two arty missions active :amazed:

Chose to also select the T55a blocking mission while I was at it... Manage to do HT12-3 in one go in the OI

Low tier soviets sucks, ARL 44 is super good as said above, T29 is a op hulldown heavy. I would go up the French tech tree because it also has super good tier 9 heavy tank which fits your requirements.

It does have very good armor as long as you angle it properly and bait shots to angled hull.

Back in the days of +-4 mm it was pretty solid, and the long 90mm made killing is7´s a sport.

Try T-150, KV-2, IS, IS-2, or Tiger. All of those were enjoyable, some are personal favourites of mine.
