I have the IS-2 but refuse to buy it because the 110 was just made bad to sell this one, and I wont fall for it. Spend it on a premium WV or Progetto, not on this thing.

Great tank for pre-2015 WOT meta. Unfortunately, now its a waste of money, which is better spent on a plethora of OP premiums.

I looked into the history of this tank and discovered some more background information, not provided on the official Wargaming website:

"During the earlier stages of its development the tank's name was actually changed from "112" to "22" , after tank commanders found out about the shockingly inadequate penetration of the AP shells, therefore more often than not having to rely on the expensive HEAT shells."

Also preferential match making in 2020 means:

- playing against tier 6 tanks once every 100/150 games

- 30% of the time tier 8 all, meaning you can't penetrate anything but weakly armoured vehicles (excluding wheelies which you can't hit in the first place)

- 60% of the time you're a punching bag in tier 9 games

nice article

this tank has significant penetration issues.....186mm for a tier 8 heavy is outrageous....i can see defenders laughing at is3s cos they are trying to penetrate them....and is3s are laughing at 112 because of the same...that's how 112 is (same gun as well on WZ111)

Nothing personal Wargaming or World of Tanks marketing team but 40euro for a tank that doesn't get any attention from the balance team is just not right... Buff all old premium tanks and tech tree tanks to give them a new fresh look so that players will have more interests in getting them. ^^

Heh, that's a lot of money for a heavy tank that I've only ever seen with full gold load. How about you buff the 110 instead and make it playable?

Effing Wargaming.

I really like my 112. Everything that others say is right. The pen isn't great. The gun handling is woeful. But frontally, at least, the armour is pretty good. It's mobile and can get into position quickly. Close in, it can work quite well.

Having said all of that, I wouldn't pay £35 for it...

Tier 8 Pref MM were completely F*cked over by the MM changes that WG made.

You remember the thread that went to over 100 pages of outrage ?

Well WG screwed us anyway.

These are tier 7.5 that spend most battles as the weakest tank on the tem either in Pure Tire 8 or Tier 8/9.

Speaking of premium tonks like the 112, any news on the next tank trade in?

Hey guys,

Thanks for sharing your opinion on the tank. What would be the recommended play style for the guys who didn't play with that tank before and which equipment you recommend?

Just no.

They messed with the Wz-111 once made it not able to bounce shots anymore like a boss and even though they got the pen up "slightly" to justify the nerf of the armour.. Well..

It is still a mediocre pen! I would have rather they not nerfed the wz-111 and kept hte 175 pen it had. Because now they are just nerfed. NOT WORTH TO BUY.

I remember quite well that when I did buy wz111 it was just so fun to play but now its just not fun at all.. I would say same goes for this one.. As it got the same nerf along with others pref mm tanks that wasnt russian .. :)

If a russian tank comes out thats something you know wont get nerfed so .. If you buy any tank even premium they might get nerfed anyway.. Wargaming is a bit bad with this Russian bias across the game, and please dont tell me moderators that this is not true because why else would there be 279(e) in game and its a russian tank.

So the 112 is pointless. Also total moneygrab to sell high expensive tiers in nations that what only has 2 tier x heavies you can get in the end? I have 40 k battles in this game havent even unlocked all tier x russian heavies (but working on it hahah).. Wz-111 and 112 but basically the same thing. Hardly different. My wz111 is collecting dust a lot :D so will this 112 in peoples garages... too.

Since EVERYTHING gets more armour why dont you restore the wz-111 armour along all other pref mm tanks you took armour from? I bet its mostly non-russian tanks but lets be fair and say you restore them all.
Since now you have russian td premium with 750 dmg with very high pen that just shoots people down in 2 shots. 2 shots and we need what? wait we do 390 dmg maybe hmm hahaha, okey so with bounces we need 5-6 shots and possibly 7since we aim at russian tank..

112. IS not worth it. That Russian td probably is. buy that instead if you are going to contemplate on whether to buy this or not.. just buy that russian td instead.. you will have epic fun games and no nerf will hit you ever :)

If you have to have a pref mm tank, this is the one I would recommend. It has a bad pen of 186mm and derpy gun-handling (which makes the 250mm pen HEAT gold ammo of dubious reliability), but what it does have is decent mobility for a heavy tank and, with proper angling and hiding the lower plate, actually functional armour, even against some tier IX tanks. I quite like it, and I've had a lot of fun games in it, but damage deal it isn't and in modern WoT where you constantly run into superheavies, the wheeled wonders, and non-pref mm tanks that far outshine it, buy at your own discretion.

For equipment, I have a rammer, vents, and gun-laying drive. This is pretty much the only tank I would take the last one over vert.stabs, just to get that aim-time a little bit lower, as you already have derpy gun-handling, and no Stalin-guidance-system to help compensate for it. I would recommend playing this as a support tank, of sorts. Your gun is only good against lower tiers, but if you can find a good hull-down position, you can be a surprisingly tough forward scout (this is basically my favourite tactic, find a spot where you're hard to kill and just farm that support damage). You could swap the gun-laying drive for optics, to maximise this, but I prefer to keep my selection for those games when I'm not bottom tier/in a decent matchup, which does happen every once in a while.

Clearly, designed to play in hangar with the most expensive equipment, ofc, because you can afford it! Just "Battle" button ruins everything, so do not touch that one!
