Hey everyone!

I play on and off, and I might have missed it so I just have to ask; Is the 50m autospot radius no longer a thing? I had some questionable situations recently, and most notably a game where an e25 just disappeared not even 10m in front of me...

Here's the replay: http://wotreplays.eu...71be351964040f8 what I was talking about happens around 7:35 left on the clock.

Watching it again I will agree that it's more than the ~10m I originally said, but no way is that more than 50m.

Pause replay just before it disappears, swicth to free cam, aim mouse at E25 and see distance on screen.

Yeah, I suppose you are correct, apparently it's a case of weird perspective in sniper mode combined with perfectly balanced premium tanks.

Sigh, is it how WoT works and has nothing to do with premium tanks.

edit: It is 57 meter so not <50 and he disappears because you have no line of sight from your viewpoints to his tank.

I could argue that it in fact does have something to do with premium tanks with only the T-34-2G FT having similiar camo values in T7, but it also falls short in almost every other aspect. And I did have line of sight of him when I drove forward to track the other one coming towards me, but he apparently had too high camo values for me to spot.

Noting to do with it. He was tracked for long enough for his net to go back up. And repair got reset again when arty hit him, so he stayed as such when you broke LOS going behind the building between reloads. He was way past 50m out behind double bushes. Even a tech tree tank with a net behind that can get to 80% camo vs your spotting, that is the max the game will give. He disappeared when you went behind the building again, as in no one had LOS on him. As even your arty had backed up. And reappeared when you drove back out again. Then you spotted him behind the same double bush moving, indicating his net was no longer active. And thus less camo to work with, so you did see him behind it. That's all there was to it.

I suggest you set your FoV to 120°(max) in case you already haven't, to fix this sort of distance confusion. It also helps prevent tunnelvision.

Do you need a bigger screen for this? Mine is 24''.

No. it just helps with situational awareness. If anything widescreens really distort the picture for me.

Classic example of why we ask for a replay.

No, but seeing smaller objects may require you to sit a little closer...it depends. It's not an issue in WoT, but may be in other games.

yes...and xvm even has an extra circle for it, if you can cope with being called a cheat.

Imo it's more about not realising how big the player character (tank) is. Generally in third person shooters the character is a human and you can sense the distances based on your character. With it being a tank in WoT you won't understand how close 50m actually seems to be at because you think of your character as ''humansize'' and base the distances on that. The length of a Hellcat is supposed to be 5,28m so 50m is only 9 and a half Hellcats. That's just my 2 cents based on the fact that I tend to make mistakes in estimating ranges in game.

I doubt he is. He although understands what the deal is regardless the bit of hyperbole. A Maus is 10,09m long. When driving a Maus and facehugging an enemy Maus, in the sniper view you're already ~4m away from the enemy tank. This means the viewpoints of yours and the enemy's are ~8m apart. It doesn't really feel like that since you're after all touching their tank. But that's the point, your mind is tricked by the player character (tank) being big and actually having a noticeably large length/width compared to a standard human(like) characters games normally have.

Maybe this picture gives an idea on things, just compare being the human and the Maus in different games.
