Hitbox bug on Vk.72?

Had 2 strange moments while playing Vk.72 in randoms 3 days ago:

 

Replays

 

On the first one I got set on fire from an arty hit that did 170 splash some meters behind my tank.

Arty in the second one took my ammorack and loader whit just 280 splash (which was also some meters next to me).

 

Never had likewise experiences in 2000 games before while playing vk.72. Both situations happend in 1.9.1 .

Was I just unlucky here or could it be a collision bug? Anyone made similar observations in any other tank?

As soon as you take damage, it can be 1 or 1200HP, you can suffer crew damage. And arty, with their huge splash can do similar stuff quite easily.

But I recently got a few cases in which I got a critical hit from arty without actually taking HP damage, so a glitch on critical hit algorithm may be a thing too.

I've heard (Take with a pinch of salt, never happened to me) of people having critical crew damage without taking HP damage for years. 

 

As for the OP, I've had similar with my VK. but i think its more likely just bad luck, as i had mine before this update. I also get set on fire A LOT without engine/fueltank damage initially (Engine usually damages due to the fire in the first place)

I do see it more often in any tank after the splash rework for arty about a year ago or so. As in the damage on the far end of the splash was reduced. But module damage splash cone they use to calculate module hits was not changed. Thus you did see an increase in module damage over splash damage if you will.

IIRC there is no link between the amount of hp lost and the severity of crew/module damage taken when splashed by HE. The former is influenced by potential damage, distance and armour thickness. The latter is influenced by distance and caliber.
